My Jewell HVR trigger (Remmy 700, top safety) arrived yesterday and the top thumb safety lever has about 1/16" or so play in all directions. I contacted Jewell directly, which by the way Tommy is great to deal with, and he indicated a bit of 'room' is built into those safety levers by design. The little dogleg levers (safety lever linkage) are held in by rivets and need room to move. I understand.

My issue is I feel like I bought a 'high end' precision trigger group and for me a loosey goosey safety function makes the part feel, well, cheap. Jewell said I am welcome to send it back in and they can attempt to tighten it up, but then a again, the 'play' is there by design.

No changes after install, functions fine, just feels sloppy.

Are your Jewell triggers the same way? Nature of the beast? Are other aftermarket triggers the same?

***I did search and found one post about a loose safety, but not really any info or outcome.

Re: Jewell HVR Trigger - Sloppy Safety Lever

Install your trigger and don't be so anal about it the play is needed for function. Have insatalled many and NO issues. To tight and they will bind.

Re: Jewell HVR Trigger - Sloppy Safety Lever

Factory X-Mark pro trigger, older Remmy trigger, Browning trigger, Ruger trigger, etc, etc, every other trigger I've owned; doesn't have the 'play' in the safety lever.

A nice 'snick' on and off with positive engagement in both directions is how a safety should function - IMO of course

The play is in the linkage not the safety function.
The trigger with the bottom safety has a crisp function .

Bringing back an old topic....

I installed a Jewell and the safety lever has a good bit of play in the safe position. It's solid when on fire and the safety works...but it has a lot of play.

Is that normal?

Anybody?

Re: Jewell HVR Trigger - Sloppy Safety Lever

Mine is the same way when on safe. Lots of play, but functions fine.

Re: Jewell HVR Trigger - Sloppy Safety Lever

Just checked mine and same thing, a little play but functions fine and has been the same for the 12? years that I have had it.

Re: Jewell HVR Trigger - Sloppy Safety Lever

The two Jewells I have also have play in the safety lever but they function fine so it doesn't bother me.
