Just had a AMSEC BF7250 delivered yesterday and it is a beast. The place I bought the safe knew that I had a steep driveway, but they didn't pass that info along to the delivery company. They showed up early (before I was home) with only one guy who just laughed at the situation. They came back later with 2 guys and it took the 3 of us 45 minutes just to safely unload it from the truck. In the process, the truck's hydraulic lift busted a gut and pissed all over my alley.

The whole time one guy kept taking pictures with his iphone. I still don't know if he was just trying to cover his ass in case of an accident or just to show friends how incredibly stupid and dangerous moving this safe uphill was. When we finally got the balls to try to get it up the driveway (one guy pulling the jack and two guys pushing the safe), we made it about 1/3 the way up before we had to abruptly lower the safe or face the chance of a runaway.

Forty-five minutes later, the dispatcher and another driver show up to help. In the end it takes 5 full grown men to get this safe up my driveway. Since their boss showed up, the original 2 guys couldn't even take the cold beer that I promised them.

To make things worse, these guys were only contracted to move the safe into the garage. Now I've got to get it off the palate and move it into position. If anybody likes cold beer and moving heavy safes in the free time, shot me a PM.

Re: AMSEC BF7250

Congratulations - good choice on Amsec.

Getting ready to order a 6032 or 6030 very soon. Was looking at pricing online. I only considered the Amsec or Sturdy Safe brands. Because it is likely going in my bedroom, I am going with the Amsec because it is built well and has the appearance factor to satisfy my wife.

I'll probably have a local moving company in to move from the garage to its final position.

Sounds like you need a beer n pizza party for guy friends! Remember to drink beer afterwards. Who know WTF may happen with a bunch of drunks and 2k lb safe

Re: AMSEC BF7250

The Graffunder safe that will be going into our new home weighs about 5400lbs. The company that will be moving it is equipped to move something in the neighborhood of 20k lbs. It almost gives me a hernia just thinking about moving the new safe.

Re: AMSEC BF7250

Tamu98, congrats on the purchase. AMSEC makes a pretty darn good gun safe compared to the competition. The construction method parallels a composite commercial safe. They manage to pull that off because they're actually one of the largest commercial safe companies in North America. A majority of safes you will find outside of banking, numismatics, or jewelry will be an AMSEC. Most gun safe companies don't play in the commercial world. If you remove the door, you will sometimes have issues with pin alignment and the door being as smooth as it was from the factory. People that move safes like this typically use round steel rods as rollers and roll the safe to it's final destination. It's cheap, slow, and methodical.

rbdub474, congrats on the Graffunder. Which letter class security rating did you spring for? C?They're a local company and they always have a few at the gun shows. The close fit on the door is so close that it's kind of hard to close. The air wooshes out but wants to push the door back open. They're spendy and I'd like to grab one, but I'll probably end up buying a used jeweler's safe for around the same price when I move into a home with more space. Are you using a security company for the move or something like a rigging company? How much are they charging you for the move? I figure the composite safe I end up with will be in the same weight range so getting an idea on the cost to move off the truck into a home would be helpful.

It is an F series, specifically the F7248. I will be using a safe and security company for the install. They did my Liberty safe, and I was extremely happy with their service. I won't know the specific cost until they look at the specifics of the move such as stairs, yard and mileage etc. etc. I'm planning on several k.
