Scope for my FV-SR to get out too 300-400 yards?

Getting into long ranged .22lr picked up a FV-sr in a Boyd's tacticool stock and a 20moa rail. Now I need a scope for this bad boy. What do you rimfire experts advise? Also I'm up in Canada so your SS is out of the question.

My Simmons WTC 6.5-20x50 w/ AO makes skeet clays at 200 fairly easy....

The problem I see though is a lack of enough MOA to go up enough for very long range... I'd look into a base/mount with even more MOA, perhaps using your 20 moa base and Burris Zee rings w/ the inserts

Stoop 14, I just shot an identical setup yesterday for the first time that I put together. I used a Millet TRS 4-16X that I had laying around. I had no problem out to 100yds . With the 20 MOA base I think you'll be fine out further. Good luck and have fun. BTW how much torque did you use putting the action screws in ?

Re: Scope for my FV-SR to get out too 300-400 yards?

For 300-400 yards, you're going to need a scope with a lot of adjustment to get out to 400 yards and maintain a 50 yard zero.

On my 10/22 with an 18" Kidd barrel (I'm going from memory here) and a 50 yard zero it's +7 mins to get to 100, then + another 20 mins to get to 200, another +22 mins to get to 300. I'd imagine that it would be another 22-25 mins to get to 400.

So, if I'm adding right, you need a scope with about 100 mins of adjustment to get to 300. Or maybe 80 mins with a 20 MOA base.

I shoot a CZ453 with a 50-yd zero and a 25 MOA base, and need 10.5 mils to get to 300 yards. I'm running an IOR 3-18x42 with 35mm tube. At 10.5 mils I have run out of elevation to dial on the scope.

Re: Scope for my FV-SR to get out too 300-400 yards?

For a 22lr (CCI Std. at 950fps) you need about 17 mils with standard velocity ammo at 300 yards according to Strelok. 400 is about 26 mils. Chances are you'll need to do hold overs. My BSA tactical with a 50 yard zero has 20.4 mils of elevation with a 25 MOA base and if I remember correctly, 8 mils on the reticle to hold over. Unfortunately, the longest range around my area is only 200 yards, so I haven't been able to check the dope at greater distances.

Try a SS 12x42 or 16x42 Mil-Quad with your 20MOA base you should be pretty close. They have about 32 mils of adjustment which is 109.76 MOA or 115.2 inches. It will depend on what zero you choose.

50 yard zero, what mag do you guys prefer out at 300-400?

Re: Scope for my FV-SR to get out too 300-400 yards?

I have shot to 500 with a 22x NF but it was mounted on a Savage TR with a VGM base. I would go with at least a 15x. My current setup has a Votex HS 5x15x44 mil/mil and a DIP 25MOA base mounted on a CZ 455 with a 25yrd zero. Good to about 350 so far, have not pushed out to 4 or 500 with it yet.

Re: Scope for my FV-SR to get out too 300-400 yards?

I use a Hawke 8.5-25 and it will hit 300 yards and hold 50 yard zero. I use adjustable rings and set the scope for bottom of travel +4 minutes. I don't remember for sure, but I think I was able to do 400 with holdover.

Re: Scope for my FV-SR to get out too 300-400 yards?

Millett LRS-1 has 140 MOA. Buy one, and then talk to DIP about making a custom base. He said he could do it, just needed to know how much. I still haven't decided yet.

I've heared bad things about the trs line.

Re: Scope for my FV-SR to get out too 300-400 yards?

I use a Vortex Crossfire 6-24x50 with a 25Moa dip base out to 300yds with no problem on my tr and still have plenty of adjustment. At 300 after my Moa adjustments I still hold zero no hold over
