Rifle Scopes vx-6 or zeiss conquest

Re: vx-6 or zeiss conquest

Assume you mean the 2-12
I am testing one and I would put the glass perhaps a tad better than the Conquest though I have not done a direct A/B test.

I have over the last 2 days compared it directly against s Swarovski z3 and I would put the glass about the same.
Testing at 2-300 hundred yards and into no light

Had two other guys testing and we all called it a wash

They did a great job with the Vx6
I am running it on a 280 ackley and the 1-6 on. 18" 556 for multigun

Re: vx-6 or zeiss conquest

The Leupold VX-6’s are great scopes. Zeiss is offering some great rebates at this time making them very tempting. I have a hunting rifle that needed a scope and I have been think of getting a Zeiss Conquest for it. When they come out with the Rebate I could not past it up. We have a few Zeiss on sale also.

If we can be of help with any scope feel free to let us know.

Re: vx-6 or zeiss conquest

.

I bought a VX6 2-12X42mm recently and the glass quality is very, very good.

On the other hand the exterior of the scope looks "cheaper" than the previous VX-III and VX3 I have. Even costing almost double the VXIII, it looks like the olds Mark 2 scopes on the finish and genearal apearance.

Example: there is a rubber ring (not an o-ring) at the base of the turrets, but it is not "installed" or glued. It is just there, seated on top of the "floor". So, when you put the turret caps, it serves as a weatherproof ring, but as it is very soft you can easely squeeze it to the point it jumps out of the turret. And when you take of the caps, it usually comes with it or stop at the middle way, around the turret.

The other think that, is mostly cosmetic, but to me looks like poor quality, is the painting of the Leupold marks on the scope body. There is not the gold engraving of the VXIII and VX3 anymore, just a painting print in white (like the old Mark 2 made in china I think...). Not conductive to a classy look on a thousand dollar scope.

The Long Range Duplex reticle is much more thicker than the normal Duplex found on the VXIII and VX3, so keep it in mind if you like thin reticles.

Overall, I only used it a couple of times and need more time to really have a more precise opinion on the VX6, but for now I think the glass is good and the overall finish is not so good. And the ilumination is very, very good, even being only a dot at the center of the reticle.

Re: vx-6 or zeiss conquest

I put a VX6 1-6 on my 5.56. It is very clear and great glass. Steven

Re: vx-6 or zeiss conquest

I will agree that the logo looks a lite cheesy

They did nail the illuminated reticle.
It can be set very low and just be a barely visible small dot that doesn't obscure the target. I don't like more than that being lit up for a hunting scope and personally feel you shouldn't be shooting past MPBR on game any ways.

Conquests are very good scopes and the 3-9x40 has been and probably the best deal going for a hunting scope.

Re: vx-6 or zeiss conquest

Just wanted to add to my prevue comments.

In low light testing there wasn't a hug difference in brightness between the Vx6 and Z3.

Went to shoot at the range yesterday and shot both to 500
The Swaro did have better clarity and resolution but the VX6 is still a very Bice scope.

Re: vx-6 or zeiss conquest

I replaced my conquest with a Swaro. May sell it now. I liked the glass and lighter weight of the Swaro or hunting.
