Ordered my 1st barrel, 6.5 Creedmore, Broughton 1:8 twist 5C 24" length. Can not find to much reloading info on the computer. So what sesms to be the go to load for this round. I will be shooting Sierra bullets. The 142SMK had the best BC.

Re: 6.5 CREEDMORE

Try this load for starters, it has shot exceptionally well with several of those 24" 6.5's and 142 SMK's

142 SMK @ 2.810" OAL +/- 0.005"
42.8gr H4350

If it strings out a little side to side then load 5rds at 0.1gr less increments till you get a nice round group.

If it strings up in a vertical line up and down but very tight side to side, add a tenth til that goes away.

Re: 6.5 CREEDMORE

thanks for the info, it will the 30 of November when my barrel is shipped, just getting a head start.

Re: 6.5 CREEDMOOR

You might want to look at the Hornady 140 AMAX as well as it has a BC of .584 and is close to the .588 of the 142 SMK and will save you about $5/100.

Buy a bunch of H4350. 41.5grns is the factory 140 AMAX loading but as many have found you can load up from there. It's a good place to start though.

Also so you know it's spelled CREEDMOOR

Re: 6.5 CREEDMORE

If you go to the top of the page of the reloading forum, you will see the Sniper's Hide reloading depot.

This is a thread from there on the 6.5 Creedmore.

For bullets in the 140 range, H-4350 seems to be the powder to use.

Yes, I know - my first post here and I'm resurrecting a necro-post. In my defense, I did use the search function which is what brought me to this. It also seemed perfect, as I've just received my first long range rifle (Tikka T3x TAC A1, 24" 1:8 in 6.5 Creedmore, witha Vortex 2-25 FFP mil for the optic). I've done some reloading in the past, and plan on doing so for this rifle, but I have a huge learning curve in both the long range precision shooting AND precision reloading - so the above thread seemed like it would be perfect, but alas - the link seems to be broken.

From what I've read elsewhere, it seems the H-4350 & R-16 are the go-to powders for this cartridge and 140gr bullets. FWIW, I currently have a box of Sierra 142gr Matchkings I'm planning on using. It looks like I'll be using S&B brass for now (with supplies of everything being what they are). Any tips or links to more complete information would be appreciated, as I'm more than a little overwhelmed by the sheer volume of info I'm trying to intake and process.

Thanks in advance!

I have a 26" barrel. I load the 142 SMK with 41.5 gn H4350 and seat the .010 off the lands. works well for me.
