Debating between two trigger groups.... the Kidd trigger group or the Volquartsen.

The Volquartsen is a piece of trash compared to the Kidd. I hope that I didn't hurt anyone's feelings, but it is what it is.

As said above, KIDD.
I've tried most of the aftermarket kits and have worked over a dozen or so factory groups myself.
You can make a nice trigger with a lot of the aftermarket kits and drop in, but a Kidd is an Anschutz 2 stage in a 10/22.

Kidd is a definate......I wish he made triggers for other rifles..

+1 for the kidd. HOWEVER! if you're trying to save a few bucks then just swapping out your hammer to an aftermarket hammer such as the power custom or vq hammers will get you a feel very similar to the vq trigger group and cost less than $50. Mine is right about 2.5ish lbs and much more crisp than stock. Its no where close to the kidd but its a good budget option for a much better trigger over the stock one.

It all depends on what you want and what you expect out of your trigger. For a crisp 2 pound trigger in the new plastic trigger housings the KIDD Drop in Trigger Kit is hard to beat for the $$$. If you want ultra light two stage then the complete Trigger Group is the way to go.

If you want the absolute best, get the Kidd. If you want to save some money try a Hornet Custom. I have a Hornet in my 10/22 and absolutely love it. Very light, crisp, and repeatable.

John that 20 year old 10/22 will have an Aluminum Trigger Housing. It has only been since I believe 2008 or 2009 that Ruger switched to the Plastic Housing, Plastic Trigger and Plastic Barrel Band.
There are guys over on RFC that have used the KIDD Drop in Trigger Kit in the 10/22's with the Aluminum Trigger Housing. Some have worked great while some others had to do some adjusting to get them set up properly. The best advise would be to call KIDD on Tuesday and get their take on the subject.
I have installed two of the KIDD Drop in Trigger Kits in Ruger 10/22's with the Plastic Trigger Housings with great results. In fact the one I have is probably the best 10/22 Trigger I have (the others are Aluminum Trigger Housing reworks by TT Shooter).

I have a kidd, and a stock setup with volquartsen parts.. The kidd is nice but the stock on worked over is pretty nice.

I went through this with a 20ish year old 10/22. They said that the newer plastic groups are machined to better tolerences than the old alum. ones and that's what can lead to problems.
A new polymer trigger group from them cost 25 bucks-I just went ahead and bought one when I ordered the drop-in kit. Awesome trigger!!!!

I have 4 Kidd triggers. All are flawless. I have used the Volq stuff in MKII pistols and have had variable luck. Sometimes they drop in and are perfect. Most times not. Hope you enjoy your Kidd trigger.

Been lurking on this thread and it peaked my interest. I've got a 10/22 Target that sits in the safe 'cause the trigger (stock) sucks. Hopely it won't anymore as a Kidd is on the way based on the info I read here and from my buddy 3wide. Thanks.

Only thing that hurts my feelings is this thread wasn't up when I bought a Volquartsen 3 years ago.Way overpriced for what you get.Kidd will be in my next build.......

I made the mistake of letting my wife shoot my 10/22....her statement was; "That's it! I want a 22 EXACTLY like this one!!!" Now she has a Kidd two stage 8oz/8oz as well.
I do have a "tier 1" trigger job in another 10/22 that was done by "Brimstone" over on the RFC forum and it is a close second for about half the money.
Personally, I've done several trigger jobs myself that turned out much crisper than any trigger I've tried from VQ.
The bottom line though is just like most have said over and over on this thread...Kidd.

everyone raves bout the KIDD. i may have to get one. I bought the Power custom kit for like 110 bux from midway and it didnt work well with my polymer setup. Im sending it back and most likely gonna buy the whole KIDD setup, hope its still on sale !!
