Want to hear opinions on a site for my Knights SR-15?

Trying to decide between Eotech Holographic or Aimpoint T1?

This rifle is going to be my go out have a good time blast of some rounds, zombie apocolypse, SHTF, rifle. Who knows maybe some fun competitions.

Which one and why? Any others I should consider?

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

I personally dont care for the Eotechs

I have a T1 micro on my carbine and friggin love it. It is lighter and has better battery life.

Good luck with your search

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

Had an eotech, sold it. Aimpoint has the idea right, simplicity. Red dot, thats it. Have a Comp M3 on my work rifle, battery will last five years. That's what you want on your zombie/shtf gun. Aimpoint also has a reputation for ruggedness.

Eotech was okay, battery life wasn't as good though. I prefer the plain dot over Eotech's circle dot.

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

Aimpoint - all day, everyday

EoTechs suck IMHO, not as durable, battery life is a joke, elev and windage adjustments are pain to use

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

I like both of my Eotechs. I have had both of them for years and work great every time I shoot with them.

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

For me, it really wasn't a matter of what I prefered. It came down to what would work and keep on working. I've caught a bit of crap from others when I posted this, but I've owned no less than six Eotechs and I've killed them all.

Why did I buy so many? Because I was getting my son into shooting, he liked them and business was really good at the time, so I wasn't too worried about it. I'd buy one, when it broke, I'd send it in for repair and buy another so that I would't have to wait. I was admittedly using the cheap 511s and 512s.

When I got tired of replacing Eotechs, I just decided to stick with Aimpoints. I have one particular Aimpoint that is so old that it is anodized blue and has the piggy back battery adapter for running two batteries to make it brighter. Yes the old model has its shortcomings, but it still works.

Aimpoints are also more ergonomic. The elevation and windage adjustments are precise, the controls are idiot proof and the battery lasts forever. Well, it seems like it anyway.

If you just have to have the Eotech type of reticle, I'd recommend that you check out the ACOG TA44S-10. It's what I run now. It is arguably more reliable than an Aimpoint and has a reticle very similar to that of an Eotech.

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

I like the AA Eotechs, I have two and use one on a duty gun, the battery life is better with the lithium batteries, I have had to replace the battery box on one but have had no other issues. I like the large field of view and the circle/dot reticle of the Eotech.
The Aimpoint T1 would be another good choice, I have looked at them and for the size, weight, and exceptional battery life they really look like an excellent optic.

I dont know if price is an issue at all, but isnt the Aimpoint H-1 the same as the T-1 without the use of night vision? And its about $150 cheaper.

Regardless, I had the same argument with myself a while back and I went with the Aimpoint. Leave it on all the time and change the battery every few YEARS

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

I find EOTechs to be faster, and depending on which models you go with, the use of AA batteries can be a big advantage, due to their low price and commonality. However the controls on the Aimpoint are simpler and easier to access, the battery life is much better so you can leave them turned on, you have more mounting options with an Aimpoint in case you end up wanting to put it on a different gun later, and the general consensus is that Aimpoints are more durable.

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

I have a T1 and it rocks. It is compact and simple. I have never owned an Eotech but it seems more complex to operate.

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

Both of them work but as others have pointed out, the Aimpoints are more popular for good reason! If you want I'm running a special on all my red-dots until the end of this month! 10% off promo code is "aimpoint10" and you'll get free shipping as well! Would love to get either of your choices out to you!

Deadly thats gonna be my exact set up! What dot did you go with 2 or 4 Moa? What light did you place on the end at the muzzle? Thanks

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

Aimpoint all the way, any of them, i had three Eotech break after very little use and a good bump, no more.

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

I prefer Eotechs by far in terms of acquisition and reticle... however I had one fail once. Never had any of my Aimpoints fail.

Can't have my weapon sight fail when Zombies are chasing me around. HaHa!

Ive got the 4 MOA dot in mine, mine is a 200 and in gun. In the picture I have an X300 out front, I have since replaced that with a Scout light in a Gear Sector mount running it at 1 o clock

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

I've had both and the Eotechs are nice for fast shooting but I like the Aimpoint red-dot overall and after you take battery life into consideration, it's not even a contest.

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

I've had Eotech's and Aimpoint's....and I have finally settled on the Aimpoint T1, hands down.

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

Eotech all the way , Field of view , no controls to be hit and moved, Very fast .no red tube out the front,no need to buy a kill flash, may cost a couple more 123s. Eotechs ring can be used for drop,

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

I personally have been trying to get away from battery powered optics as much as possible. Trijicon makes excellent and rugged optics for your SR15. Check out their website.

Re: Eotech holographic site or Aimpoint T1 for SR-15

I have had three Aimpoints on my AR's, they're great. They have never failed. The last two have been the T-1's Love them!!!
