if someone in a platter handed me a full size MP9 and a Sig P226 for duty use, I think I would pick the MP9...

I will tell you why.

I have seen one sig carried as a duty gun that had slight surface rust on the grip area. that's a nogo for me. I will take the polymer slide and the melonite slide compared to all nitron finish.

I'm curious how it had surface rust in the grip area since it's an alloy frame.

Re: Sig or M&P

I just went through the same thing and decided on the Sig. The by the time you add the Apex trigger and sear kit to the M&P VTAC you're at $800. For $850 I chose a Sig Mk25. I don't care about the stupid anchor or "SEAL gun" hype, but for the price it's a nice gun. When you factor in the Sig comes with 3 mags instead of 2 like the M&P, there's a $25 difference.

Really??....Since the frames on the Sig's are aluminum I very much doubt it was rusting. A grip screw perhaps, but not likely the frame itself.

I've also not seen a polymer slide on either the Sig or S&W.

The Sigs are great guns. I carry a 229 daily because it is issued to me, but given the choice I'd go with the M&P. There's no reason in today's day and age why we should have to put up with a DA/SA trigger when there are so many alternatives. The Sig DAK trigger is somewhat better but the M&P with the Apex upgrade is a huge improvement.

Re: Sig or M&P

i have the sig 229 DAK in .40 and its one of the best firearms I've ever owned, the recoil is great, and the weight is good i carry it every as my ccw gun.

Re: Sig or M&P

had two sigs and an M&P. Still have the M&P and sold both of the Sigs. You decide.

Re: Sig or M&P

Traded for my first M&P a few months back and really enjoy it. I eventually decided that I did not like the DA/SA of a sig. Well made, very accurate, just not the action I want. Still have the M&P and traded the sigs.

Re: Sig or M&P

I have M&P's in 9mm, .45, and I just picked up one in .357 sig. I plan on picking up a .40 bbl as I have seen them for @ $70-$80.
I have picked all mine up used and I have not paid more then $400 for any of them! I have noticed that the trigger on my last one is not as nice as the others. I think it just needs used some, but I may try an APEX sear.
