I think that people need to be cognizant of the difference Israel faces in the upcoming war.

1. Regular War: We are going to kill your men and take your resources, ha ha!
2. Religiously Driven Genocide: We are going to kill your men...after having them watch us rape all of their women and put their babies in the nearest microwave on "HI"

Israel knows this - once they get pissed on enough they are just going to hand out nukes like candy to the rest of the Middle East.

Why do you think both the US and Russia are doing everything they can to encourage Israel to go over the edge? A radioactive glass parking lot makes a great foundation for an automated oil pumping station.

The numbers you are not seeing are how many soldiers were just injured "loss of legs eyes and so-forth". What if the numbers are only 1 dead for every 5 wounded? Israel's numbers are nearly 1 dead for every 10 injured. I also think that it will take longer than a month to stop all the rockets and wipe our resistance. I'm sure the numbers go up after the first month of the war. I guess this is one of those things we can thank the POTUS for??

I am glad that the USA is not surrounded by countries that want to exterminate us. If we were we might be written off as ignorant squabbling fools for trying to defend ourselves. Intellectually beneath whoever was judging us from their comfortable life in relative safety. Not needing to be concerned if their child would be killed by Iranian sponsored terrorists on their bus ride that morning. I guess that maybe I should feel superior to them as well since I was not born into a nation under attack, except I did not choose where to be born.

Iran has stated repeatedly that a attack on if by Israel will directly lead to an attack on US assets in the region.

Iran has already attacked and attempted to attack US interests without any retaliation.

Without getting into to much detail ... I don't believe we will engage Iran anytime soon, nor do I believe Iran is stupid enough to try anything against Israel regardless of what they might say.

We maintain a military presence in the Middle East to 'keep the peace'. As long as there are US troops in the Middle East region we will continue to police the air, land, and waterways.

As an example ... the US troop presence in the East Asian countries is the primary reason that there has been peace over the past few decades. One of the only reasons that China hasn't taken Taiwan back is because we hold too much stake in Taiwan's free society, and realize the importance of their democratic society. China knows this, and leaves well enough alone. After all ... you can sabre rattle all you want, but you don't want to wake the junkyard dog!

I did not mean to ignore it. I took it for granted that US forces would be involved. The first thing Iran will do is try to close the Straits of Hormuz to oil and launch missiles at US assets in the region. Without credible US forces on hand, I could see Iran invading Kuwait.

Officials are convinced it’s only a matter of time before Iran uses its nuclear capability against the Jewish state, living up to the dire threats its leaders have been making for years now.

But Israeli leaders also fear they will lose the window of opportunity to deal a devastating military blow to Iran’s nuclear development if such a strike is not conducted by October of this year.

Why?

Because they believe Barack Obama has a reasonable expectation of being re-elected to the White House – and, if he is, he is likely, unconstrained by concerns about a future election, to be a political liability in the wake of such an action.

However, if the strike is made prior to the election, Obama is much more likely not to condemn Israel. It just wouldn’t be a popular political move for him. Even most Democrats in the U.S. Congress will support Israel’s right to defend itself.

But here’s the quandary – not only for Israel but for Americans who want to see Obama defeated in 2012: Will that kind of “October surprise” indeed help Obama to win the election?

Most Israeli leaders don’t want to see that. But what choice do they have when their nation’s survival is at stake?

Historically speaking, sitting presidents have a distinct political advantage during worldwide military crises. Will that be the case for Obama in the wake of a major military strike on Iran in October, just weeks or days before the vote?

On the one hand, most Israeli leaders would like to see Obama, the harshest critic of Israel ever to reside in the White House, be defeated in November. But, on the other hand, they have their own nation’s self-interest hanging in the balance.

As it stands now, the election is too close to call – and, in the minds of Israeli leaders, the strong possibility of an Obama re-election must be considered in the equation. As long as that is the case, you can take it to the bank that October is the likely time for a strike on Iran.

No most are pretty decent people but there be some elements who are absolutely nuts (with nuts equaling nuts of some Muslims). For example some stuff in western media (what Iranian officials were saying) was totally misrepresented as they always speak of Israeli regime/Zionists and latter are not liked much even by most of the Jews themselves.

If you dig deeply enough you will find that almost all wars have "profit", hideing in there somewhere. Where it getts reall screwed up is when yuo include "prophet" in the same war as "profit". Nonsense about prophets, profits and other distractions do not obscure the undeniable facts: Israelis have a valid claim to the land they occupy, they have a inarguable historical origination there and regardless of bullshit to the contrary, there were always Jews that lived there, throughout the millenia, regardless of the foreign sandals or boots that were stomping on their necks.

I find it interesting how few people really consider what kind of world we would inhabit in the wake of allowing the shittiest people in the world to erase Israel on any of the absurd pretexts these assholes choose to use a justification.

I prefer not to live on a planet filled with delusional sociopaths; there's your zombie apocalypse.

Why the smack talk about israel? The last I checked the people of their religion didn't hijack planes and fly into our buildings. Also, the last time I checked, the jewish people have been in the region longer than anyone on this forum have been alive. That region has been unstable for a long long time. It will continue to be unstable after most of us are gone. I personally hope war doesn't break out, but if it does, I will be in the corner of God's chosen people, and our one trusted ally in the region.

You'd be amazed at what kind of mileage a fighter jet can get when the hand of God is behind it. There is a reason Israel and the Jews are still on the map and it has little to do with arms or military tactics.

How quickly people forget: What we failed to mention on this Thread is that the war with Iran has already started. It started before 1980, continued with the Western nations' support of Iraq through ten years of war, and cemented itself as a semi-permanent feature of the region with the invasion of Iraq in 1991.

I generally dont buy into all of that and certainly dont want to start any trouble and dont intend a religous dixscussion, but everything seems to me more or less in place for that type of scenario. Contrary to popular myth, Iranian history didn't begin in 1979. How quickly people forget that the CIA used Kermit Roosevelt and his bag man Norman Schwarzkopf Sr. to orchestrate the coup that took down a democratically elected Mosaddegh in 53'. US involvement in the region since WWII created this animosity, but still we pretend like it's just Iran's fault for the rift. Anti-US resentment exists for good reason, we've earned it.
