@ tolnep

Other than the obvious magnification differences, what comments do you have comparing the S&B PMII 5-25 and the March FX 5-40? </div></div>

i have never looked through one. i was simply gonna buy one on rep. general consensus seems to be the glass is as good, the knobs are perhaps the best around. they dont offer the range of reticles and knob choices nor the life time warranty. all of which were not issues for me as i got tier one glass and a reticle that everyone that looks at likes and enough magnification to replace a spotting scope.

i dont compete, i aint an operator (nor a wanabe). shooting is a hobby and the march is good enough.

how does it compare direct on with the S&b? the smaller 3-24 when compared to the s&b was on a par according to a reviewer here. except at extremes like low light (where the 56x of the 5-40 should be as good). that same reviewer will be doing the 5-40 sometime in the next two months..

the 5-40 is in the same price range as all tier one scopes. the 3-24 is in the price range as many tier 2 scopes. i expect it to be almost as good as the 5-40 without the 40 magnification and perhaps low-light performance (which probably wont ever matter to me). my 5-40 has the illuminated reticle (which i probably dont need). the 3-24 was being ordered without (a 500.00 option).

A friend bought the FX as soon as they were available.

I've got a little time behind it. All I gotta say is WOW! I'm persnickety when it comes to scopes, I really am and I was very impressed. This is the only scope I could actually force myself to pay north of $3000 for.

I didn't think I'd like the .05 mil clicks but they were fine because I never count when I'm dialing I'm only looking at the dial, furthermore the clicks are very distinct and audible, even the knobs are wide-ish so there is acceptable click spacing and they are low profile compared to many scopes!

The scope size is about the size of a NF 5.5-22 which is a good size. I HATE huge and heavy scopes so the FX was a win in that department for me.

The glass was frickkkkken awesome!

It focuses down to 10Y. I wish every scope manufacturer would do this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reticle was perfectly appropriate. I love floating dots! It even has numbered lines every 2 mil!

This scope is as close to perfect in my book as it gets. Heck if it had a Horus H-59 it would be perfect. Actually it's a good thing it doesn't have a Horus in it because I'd buy 6 of them and never get out of debt, LOL.

Just my 2 cents but S&B is the way to go.. love mine, built like a tank and great customer service..

+1 for the Vortex Razor. As good or better than the NF or USO options. If you can deal with going to the Mil/Mil scopes your options open up to the Bushnell HDMR G2. I have S&B, Razor, HDMR, and a NF. They are all very good scopes, but for the money the Razor is hard to beat. They also have outstanding customer service, not that you are going to need it. Mine has taken some serious abuse and is working just fine.

I think I'm going to give one a shot, I'll find a used one to try so if I hate it I shouldn't lose much if I need to get rid of it.

Any ETA on the 3 - 24 F ? Tried again today , but still got the machine . Will have to break down and go the email route , but would feel better having a few questions I need to ask answered in person </div></div>

Kelbys has odd hours, closing as early as 3 ET?? I only had troubles until I realized this. I waited approx. 3 months for my March-F. For those wondering.

Yep , figured out their hours today and was able to speak with them . I'm out west and had to call before noon to get with someone . I was told up to 16 weeks after you order on the F , with the reticle and options I want . Had 1 FX and 1 F in stock , but the FX was spoken for and the F was not the reticle I am wanting . Jeff said could be sooner , if one shows up for stock .

On a side note , those of you worried about warranty issues , I found that they do go back to Japan for all work . But I have researched , and sound like Deon does a bang up job on getting them back in the hands of the owners , sometimes in as short as 10 days with emailed pictures of your scope and explanations of work preformed . I'm sold and now the wait begins
