Re: First attempt at using RL15

I'm just starting my own load work using RL-15 and did a ladder test yesterday. I'm looking forward to seeing if it lives up to its name for sustained consistency that i've read about. Good luck on yours and nice shooting.

Re: First attempt at using RL15

I've been using RL-15 in my .308 and .223 for years. My standard load for .308 is 42gr. I'm shooting a 20" Savage 10FP, unsuppressed.

Re: First attempt at using RL15

I use Rl 15 in my 22-250 Ai 43 grains 29 inch lija barrel fluted on a remington action 1;8 twist right hand it is s one holer at 100 yards.

Re: First attempt at using RL15

Correction to last post not correct!! 43 grains in my 22-243 middlestead not my 22-250 AI 80 grain Seria matchking with different powder. My 22-243 is 1:12 twist backwards for most guys use this caliber, for heavy 22 bullets, i prefer 52 grain flat base match with 43 grains rel 15 one holer at about 4000 FPs to save barrel life also lija barrell has 3 lands and grooves stainless steel 28 inch barrel, nonfluted.

Re: First attempt at using RL15

My 22-243 middlested was orginally a Sako varmint in 22-250 from mid 70's shot at least 8,000 rds hence new barrel,Bull Mountain rifle in Montana did the rebarrel job on the Sako action, bedded and free float barrel and all rest factory. Shoots great, loves Rel 15 it has old leupold 6x24 40mm i think might be 44mm also 70's vintage.

Re: First attempt at using RL15

I aslo have a Winchester Stealth? model 70 with factory heavy barrel caliber 223, 1:9 twist loves 69 grain serrias matchking with 26 grains varget one holer also.

Re: First attempt at using RL15

Killbox, RL 15 great powder very consistant burn ratse and velocities, those look like good goups just the flyers ran it off. barrel hot? shoot fast? let cool after 2 rounds??

The last group, the barrel was starting to really get warm. It was hot and I've got a slight summer flu/allergy thing going on so I should have postponed but I really wanted to give them a try. I am going to reload a few of these and try some new ones. I will update with the next set of results once I feel better

Re: First attempt at using RL15

I use 44gr RL15 in my SPS Tactical with 175SMK, 1-12twist, 20''bbl, and my rifle is capable of less than .5moa at 100 yards, and right at .5moa at 200y, so I am very pleased with using it!

Nice groupings
