Well I went downstairs to load up some 6.5 CM for this weekend, went thru the calibration then plugged in the charge I needed and it froze up. I turned it off and on several times, unplugged it but nothing, it just goes thru its countdown then displays W 7. If I disconnect the dispenser the scale works fine so I got my rounds loaded up it just took forever.

Anyway the stuff I found online about W 7 is to send it in to RCBS with a check for $45, my unit is about 5 years old so has anybody had any luck with a unit that old?

Thanks,
Ron

I picked mine up in late '05, during the great 'keypad debacle' and it's been fine. It'll go a little wonky on me from time to time, but I just unplug it for 30 seconds and that clears the cobwebs.

Shit breaks.

Get it repaired and hope for the best.

Chris

Re: Chargemaster died

At least it is an RCBS Charge Master. The keypad on my Lyman1200 DPS just decided to quit tonight. Back to the Uniflow and trickler for now.

Re: Chargemaster died

Send it in. Consider the $45 as a $9/year maintenance fee.

Goodness, and after all the testamonies of Chargemaster lovers saying their's has 'worked perfectly' for X years? Expecially when I or others post that it's just a matter of time before ANYTHING eliectroic collapses. Anyway, if you want one send 'em the money. It won't be 'repaired', you'll get a new one. They're Chinese 'throw-aways' so you're paying about what the things cost RCBS anyway but that's much cheeper than buying a new one off the shelf.

I'm a retired precision electronic instrument tech. There ain't nothing electronic on my bench but a Walmart clock and matching radio. I won't have a digital scale unless someone gives me one and it would only be used for weighting bullets and cases, NOT powder. YMMV.
