Will a Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85 be a good asset

Re: Will a Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85 be a good asset

The Razor Spotter is a great piece of glass, with the fixed Mil 30x eye piece hits\misses were easy to to see at 1780 yards, but really, where in Illinoisssssss can one shoot out to 2000 yards.

I'm looking at one that seems to be a 20x 427Cobra but I think I can just upgrade to the 30x lens??

I'm not sure this is the best spotting scope for me yet hopefully you can give me some idea's. . I just bought a Nightforce F1 Milspec. I'd like to to get a mildot spotting scope with the same true mil's like on the NF so I don't have any variation

Re: Will a Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85 be a good asset

Only thing about mine that makes me mad is that I didn't get it sooner. Call Jay (see post above). Great guy to do business with. I'm gonna be calling him soon about some binos.

Re: Will a Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85 be a good asset

I've got a Viper that I love, but wish they'd make a mil eyepiece for.

They've put alot of love into the Viper line of riflescopes, but the spotter... not so much.

Re: Will a Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85 be a good asset

The wide angle 30x eyepiece makes all the difference with the razor spotter. It would highly recommend getting one. I bought a package deal that came with the MRAD Reticle, but sold it to eventually get one in moa. Didn't realize how much I would miss it. It's too bad that it's fixed magnification, but at 30x with that clarity, you are not going to lose much usability.

Re: Will a Vortex Razor HD 20-60x85 be a good asset

I agree with everyone else. The Razor spotter is very good, especially for the money. Also agree that the fix 30x eyepiece is a must have. I like the 30x better than the 20-60 and you really don't miss the magnification much.

I tried the Viper HD spotter first and was not real impressed. It was not enough better than my rifle scopes to justify the cost. The Razor is very easy to justify.

Got mine from Scott. He will treat you right!

How do people feel this compares to the similarly spec'd Leupold?
Mark 4 Spotting Scopes · Leupold

granted its an extra grand for the Leupy but you get the zoom and the reticle at the same time... Guess the value point probably isn't as good... Sizes and weights seem about the same. Also kinda nice that you get the option of angled on the Vortex... Anyone have an opportunity to look through both side by side? How does the resolution compare?

Thanks

I've compared my razor side by side with my buddy swaro. To my eyes the swaro had just a slight edge on clarity, and I mean really really slight. Not enough that my buddy could tell, and we both agreed that it's definitely not worth the price difference.

either way, I've got both the 30x wide and the 20-60x zoom eyepieces. I keep both but the only one I ever use is the 30x wide with the mil reticle. It's an awesome spotter, worth every penny.

Got mine from Scott at Liberty Optics, good guy and would definitely reccommend.

I got one about 3 months ago and it's great! I bought a little Manfroto tripod that folds up to about the size of the scope itself - great for putting in my G4 pack when I head out to the hills. The glass is great and being able to switch from the 20-60x to the 30x reticle eyepiece is great! I don't think you'll regret it.

Very pleased with my Razor. In fact, I just upgraded to the new 16-48 Razor. This gives 23x when using the MRAD eyepiece, which I find a bit more useful than 30x.

Been using the 20-60 Razor HD for a bit now after picking one up off ebay. REALLY impressed with how crystal clear it stays up to 60x. I've had a couple cheap spotters up till now, and am blown away by how much better this is. I did a good amount of research before buying and don't think I saw even one review that was even slightly negative about it.

I have tried Vortex Razor spotter. I liked it. I ended up getting the Zen-Ray ZEN ED2 spotter. It is almost identical to the Vortex Razor. I even bought a 30x tactical eyepiece from Vortex to go with my ED2 spotter.

I got the Vortex Razor HD Spotting Scope 20-60x85 and the extra eye piece x30 with mrad reticle from Liberty Optics. I got the extra eyepiece to use with my Vortex Razor EBR-2B. I got a great deal from Scott. The extra eyepiece had to be put on back order but, Vortex said they would be in around the first part of November.

I also ordered the Vortex Razor HD Summit XLT to save me a little money and still have a good tripod.

The next thing I want to get is the digiscope camera adaptor for it.

I am also in the market for a spotter. At the the local gun store I compared a vortex side by side with a gold ring. It was Very easy to see the difference in clarity and light transmission. I will likely be going with a gold ring and send it in to Leopold for them to put a reticle in it. The price new was $200 lower for the vortex and it showed.

I do not know which model it was. Its price was eleven or twelve hundred. I liked the rapid focus, but on the same power the Leopold had much better transmission and clarity. Bushes compared to blades of grass. For kit in those price ranges I spend a few hundred more for what is clearly a better product.

CameraLandNY has the Zen-Ray ED2 20-60x82 for $749.
Had I not just ordered a Razor HD 20-60x85, I'd probably try one out... some say it's as good as the Razor HD, which they also say it is an almost exact duplicate of.
