VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

I've been trying to come up with the best solution to store and carry my rifle. It is a bit on the heavy side at just over 22 lbs with the empty mag and bipod. I intended it to be that way to help reduce the recoil.

The shoulder straps on Voo Doo bag don't seem to fit that well. I've install them with the barrel up and then with the butt up with the same results. Any forum members use the shoulder harness and find them comfortable?

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

stay the hell away from Voodoodoo and Condor Craptical, they are absolute shit. Chinese manufactured, airsoft quality garbage. Unfortunately, now that I see Blackhawk sold in Wal-Mart, I think it might fit under the same bill of goods.

My good friend bought a Condor Drag Bag/Shooting mat combo. The thing appeared to be stitched together like you'd want in this type of bag. It was what I was looking for, so I went ahead and purchased the exact same bag. Two weeks after first use, the stitches around the center handles started coming apart, then came one of the pockets, now the stitching that attaches the zipper to the bag. If this were 3-4 years ago, I might be more forgiving, but the bag was purchased in December, not used until the end of January 2012.

The best part about it? I emailed Condor 3 times. I can still hear the crickets...but no response from these tool boxes.

I'm glad it only cost me $120.00 to find this out.

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

I second the not buying the voodoo bag. I have one that at less than one year old all the zippers crapped out, and voodoo pretty much told me that i could stick it where the sun don't shine. My rifle is the same kind of thing, but mine is seriously long at 55 inches. My next bag will be Galati Gear bag.

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

I have the Voodoo Double Rifle soft case and it has been outstanding. I have a approx 20 lb rifle that I carry it and my AR in my Voodoo bag and have had absolutely zero problems with.

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

I picked up a VooDoo at a local gun show, and though I've only had it for a few days I don't see any issues with it so far. I haven't put it through its paces yet, but I definitely plan to.

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

I have had a VooDoo drag bag for two years and have not had any issues. Most of the time it carries two TRG rifles and a pile of accessories. I thought I would have torn off the handles by now but I haven't hurt it at all. It is not the quality of my Eagle stuff, but it does the job fine.

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

I've got one of the blackhawk dragbags/mat things. Mine has done well as far as I've used it. Mostly shoot out of the bed of a truck though. A couple times in the weeds but nothing major. As far as a ruck type bag the shoulder straps aren't the greatest. But none the less it's done well all in all. I usuallyh stuff the water bladder pocket full of shooting shit (rear bag, data book, a couple boxes of ammo etc) it could be bigger but it holds enough a decent time. I've had it for a couple years and I dont know about their current quality but I've got no complaints for mine, for what it is at least.

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

I have had my voodoo for 3 months but it is doing fine (knock on wood) seems well made. Will have to see, so far so good.

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

I would highly recommend looking at the Tac Ops drag bags that Aries64 &/or Black Ops often runs a group buy on.

You can also get them from one of the vendors here on their website at www.libertyoptics.com

The Tac Ops bags are some of the best around and have all kinds of features like a shooting mat, supressor pouch, really good backpack carry straps, a proper drag handle etc.

They are more expensive than the cheap made in China stuff but well worth the cost if you ask me.

OP: How far do you have to carry it? I find mine to be uncomfortable also with 2 rifles in it(weighs about what your one does), but I only use it for getting the rifles into the car, out of the car, to the range and back to the car. The Voodoo bag really doesn't give you any options for setting it up comfortably unfortunately, the metal slip buckles dig in and the whole bag kinda sucks for doing other than basic transport of a rifle to the range.

For packing with a rifle over long distances I use an Eberlestock Operator, don't tell anyone I'm not an actual operator. It is very comfortable and carries all my other gear without issue. I've packed through Yellowstone for 3 days with 50 lbs in it and didn't feel like there was alot better I could have done with anything else. It's not a drag bag but if you're flexible on function I'd give Eberlestock a look.

Define, don't seem to fit that well and comfortable. I regularly have more than 22 pounds in mine 42" case not the drag bag coming up on 3 years, I have 2 long guns, short guns, and ammo in added pouches plus the days kit. Its quite a heavy load. The shoulder straps are not well padded on the shoulders, they are not contoured but straight, hangs low on the body for ruff terrain, it carries OK or comfy, guess it depends on the definition and what I want. Would I carry it for a day or days, no but that is not why I got it. To get me and kit there with one carry, mile or so leg time its ideal for the price. I plan on picking up the 36" soon.

I have mine so stuff full, I have to knee the side and john wayne the compression straps to get the zippers to close. Its dirty and a few stains but 3 years and still working like it cost twice or three times as much. Its all perspective.

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

To the OP,

Sorry that your bag isn't performing very well. If you do decide to go to another bag, drop me a line and we'll get you setup with a Galati. Have had nothing but stellar reviews from Hide members and I can vouch that they are top quality!

He didn't ask about an Eberlestock Operator pack, but glad you can supply an anecdote...wow.

The thread title is:

"VooDoo Drag Bag <span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">or Other Options</span></span>", not "Is a Voodoo drag bag any good?" or "How much weight can I carry in a Voodoo drag bag without tearing the seams?"

I'm trying to help the OP. <span style="text-decoration: line-through">What was the point of your post, to call me a dick? So be it, I can read.</span>

Edit: Your point is well taken. I'm sorry I was rude with everybody in my initial post, there was no need to be a crank-ass in a thread that's not even mine. I hope everyone ignores this and has a great week.

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

Here is my "other options" input:

I have a double rifle case from Condor, I have had it for 3 years and it works very well for heavy loads (fully loaded AICS 2.0 and a fully loaded AR-15) Nothing is fraying, ripping, tearing or breaking. You can set it up two ways. One way is to carry it like a backpack (2 shoulder straps) and the other is to carry it with one strap like a duffel bag. Obviously the "back pack way" works best. It costs me $100 and so far so good. You're going to run into problems with items that are mass produced especially out of China but hopefully more times than not everything works out well. Galati gear is very good quality as well.

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

What up with you guys? I am trying to find a bag that my gun fits into and that is reasonable comfortable to carry. I need shoulder straps so I can balance the carry weight over both shoulder. I have upper neck and back problems, so I would like to carry my gun without ruining my shooting day.

FALex & Ryedaddy, I asked for other options, I would hope others might mention if they had troubles with the item or other negative encounters with a product.

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

I will say this, my voodoo bag has shoulderstraps on it, it is so so comfortable. The suggestion of the Ebrelstock bag is the best yet. it puts the weight directly on your hips, and right to your feet with the shoulders being just for secondary support. the bag that i suggested that i am planning on buying (galati gear) offers shoulder straps that i think are better than the ones that voodoo offers.

is that a better explination?

really? The "other options" part of the title indicated you were looking at other products, so I wanted to throw my experience with the airsoft crap that I have had so you did not make that mistake.

And yes, ryedaddy, my point was to show how anally retentive your statement was. And yes, I'll go ahead and ignore the sand in your vagina too. <span style="text-decoration: line-through">Here's your sign.</span>

Re: VooDoo Drag Bag or Other Options

I've had my Galati Deluxe bag for well over 5 years, I use the shoulder straps a lot too and they've held up well. I have a Voodoo case on the way an see how it compares and holds up.
