So I'm thinking on "pulling the trigger" on one of these? just curious how "large" they are sized? I won't be wearing armour etc underneath.
Any end users care to comment all the better.

Re: First Spear Squadron Smock

They have them at Alamo Tactical here in SA up to XL. Black tan and tacticool MC. They look very functional, LOTS of pockets all around inside and out. Was thinking of getting one too or another SPUHR mount since THEY ARE THE SAME PRICE! They don't seem too thick/warm, but that is a good thing for me since we only have three seasons here in south TX and only gets COLD when the freezer gets left open.

LOL,I have a couple of rings from MHSA on they way.
Did you by chance try it on? I'm curious about sizing?
The Vertx smock in more expensive? I thought this was OK for a product that I think is made in the US?

Re: First Spear Squadron Smock

Oh yeah I tried it on! Like a chick in heels. Luckily the wife wasn't with me cuz I would of had to buy her something. Felt like a well made jacket. It was a Med/reg. fit me perfect, I'm 5'7" 170, had room for a thin vest or chest rig. GI sizing is right on, my cammies are the same size. Jacket is on the list!

Re: First Spear Squadron Smock

I'm in the 2XL category, thanks for the info. I think I'm going to "pull the trigger" on this. Was the jacket lined with fleece?

Re: First Spear Squadron Smock

I don't know if it was fleece... It was almost like Cordero, may have been fleece. I liked it also because it has a hood with a metal rod in the brim to keep if away from you face when u go full Trayvon. The only thing I wish it had was a detachable hoodie, but really isn't an issue. Also had 6 or 8 mollie loops on the back and pockets everywhere in different sizes

Re: First Spear Squadron Smock

Thanks, I should have asked this earlier, how were the sleeves?
I like the wide Velcro at the wrist, but curious to know if they were really long?

Re: First Spear Squadron Smock

You had better check with First Spear about where it's made. I think they were working with a place in Europe early on. I'm not sure if they have moved production to the US or not. Triad is a FS dealer, but those are only available with direct pricing.

Re: First Spear Squadron Smock

What's "direct pricing"? More or less than the $399?

Re: First Spear Squadron Smock

That means they do not discount the price when the sell to dealers. Basically they want to sell these direct.

So if you see one for less than what the price is on the FS site, it's a GOOD deal.

Re: First Spear Squadron Smock ($399.?? REALLY?)

That's a lot of money for a parka that is not WPB (waterprof/breathable).

For that money I'd look at true mountain parkas made of Gore-Tex Pro Shell or eVent. These are curently the best WPB laminates. Plus most good WPB mountain parkas have over-the-helmet sized hoods that can fit over the smaller Kevlar pots.

Built-in liners like the smock's fleece limits their year around usability. Much better to layer for the weather.

And do you really need all those attatchment points and pockets with their fumbly button closures?

Speaking as a backpacker and backcountry skier this smock is too heavy, not flexible enough in design for all season use and WAAAY too expensive for what you're getting. (IMHO)

Time to think outside of the (tactical gear) box.
