I am trying to take my savage model 10 which has a bull barrel, with the Accutrigger, and replace the factory stock, I have been looking at the Manners savage 10 T4A Adjustable stock. My question is, will it fit my action and how do I make it go from an internal magazine to a detachable magazine? Thanks

Re: savage model 10 .308

Yes, your action will fit. To make it into a detachable magazine assembly, you will need either the Savage bottom metal or the CDI bottom metal, or some other bottom metal for what you are after.

I personally recommend the factory Savage bottom metal over all the others. I honestly like the front release tab for the magazine.

Manners will do the factory inletting to the stock for you for FREE!!

Manners is the ONLY way to go in my opinion!!

Re: savage model 10 .308

First, you'll need to measure the screw spacing.
Savage has two different spacings.

Talk to manners, they will help you out and yes, you can get one for your rifle.

When you order your stock, tell them you want it inletted for a DBM. You'll probably need the DBM ahead of time so they can test fit it.
Other wise, send you new stock to Jeff at CDI and he will inlet it for his excellent DBM.

You'll then be running AICS mags.

Good luck and post some pics after you are done.

Re: savage model 10 .308

Are you wanting Manners to build you one, or are you looking at a pre-built stock? If it's the latter, make sure the barrel channel is contoured properly. I'm assuming you mean you have a straight target contour when you say bull barrel. Make sure to get a stock inletted for that barrel, as any slimmer contour (varmint, sporter, etc.) won't fit.

Hey I know this post is super old but I'm looking into a new manners stock, the T4. I know everything I want for it except under their build a stock option I'm unsure what to choose for the barrel contour. I have a Savage model 10 .308 with the heavy or "bull" barrel if you will and I'm not seeing anything under their options which will fit that barrel and I don't want to pick the wrong one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Unless specified otherwise most model 10s come with the varmint contour which is a "heavy" barrel. Hope that helps

Sierracharlie and moboost, thank y'all both for the responses and input, Sierracharlie, would that be equal to the remington varmint barrel? Sorry recently new to the long gun world and trying to get everything squared away, thanks again for the help guys.

Yeah it's pretty close. I can whip out my caliper and measure them both for you here in a little bit. Shouldn't be a huge difference probably a little.

I put this on a Savage 12 and like it very much.

As mentioned getting the correct stock on a Savage is important (especially hole spacing). http://www.stockysstocks.com/pdf/HS_Sav.pdf
