Suppressors Glock 20 10mm suppressed at night & during day

Re: Glock 20 10mm suppressed at night & during day

Made it that way because I was expecting to see a flash...but didn't see any! Even from the super fast underwood ammo.

Re: Glock 20 10mm suppressed at night & during day

Did you check with SilencerCO before shooting the 40 on there? When I talked with them at SHOT Show they told me only the 45 can should be used on a 10mm, for the extra volume vs higher pressure that a 40 puts off.

I might have taken the information wrong but to my understanding the 40 is not meant for the 10mm pressures.

Be safe!

No thats the exact info I've been given via some of the class 3's I approached before buying my Osprey. The 45 was the only one deemed safe for the 10mm.

Re: Glock 20 10mm suppressed at night & during day

few points I'd like to make...

- yes with a 40 osprey you'd want to be very very careful at what you put through it and how many you put through it.

My personal rules:

10mm Rounds going 950fps - say ~1100fps I feel comfortable shooting - but I keep an eye on the can etc. These sound really good because they are either under super sonic or just over super sonic speed. But I know that there is more powder in 10mm case than 40sw - so I know the can is going to heat up faster even with the same subsonic rds.

10mm rds going 1125-1200 maybe a mag full - though never put a full mag through it.

10mm rds going 1200-1300 - maybe only 5 at a time.

1300-1400 I've only done 1 shot at a time. (hunting)

I have never put anything through it that was going faster than 1400.

Even with a 45 osprey I'd be leary of putting anything over 1400fps through it. I'm not sure what silencerco's stance is on this...so maybe it's fine? maybe they have some guidelines? I don't know.

All that said - if I had to do it over again I'd buy a 45 osprey.

Re: Glock 20 10mm suppressed at night & during day

btw

I've shot a YHM cobra m2 40 (which is rated for full power 10mm..only 40cal can I know of rated for 10mm) with this setup side by side to the osprey 40k.

I thought the osprey sounded better. Also the cobra m2 is a much more dirty can for some reason.

All that said I'll try and do a video of the 45 osprey and 40 cobra m2 next time I get together with the buds.

the 45 osprey is warrantied to 10mm, I know most of the guys at silencerco. They tell me if I shoot it on a 10mm, I will be sending it in at one point, but its an easy fix.

They tell you the 45 will eventually break?
They told youtube that is was perfectly fine to shoot thru there. I hope they are right because I have taken their advice and shoot my G20 all the time with their 45 Osprey.

Re: Glock 20 10mm suppressed at night & during day

if you shoot 135s @ 1600-1700fps through a 45 osprey IMO you will eventually run into problems. There is so much pressure and extra powder thus heat...that's my opinion.

They may assume a reasonable shooter would never do such a thing or maybe not? Best to call them and tell them what your shooting and see what they say.

yeah I'd fire that stuff all day long.

pmc 200gr (ran out before video) sounds pretty nice.

Awesome vids, just got my osprey-9 two days ago. Won't be boring it out, but it's nice to know it can be done.

You don't bore it out.....

Re: Glock 20 10mm suppressed at night & during day

Must have misread something, thought you had actually converted a 9mm Osprey to 40, my apologies.
