Can anyone run some numbers for me?

308 Win. 16 inch barrel 44g. Varget 168 Amax (muzzle PSI ??)
Vs.
284 Winchester 26 inch barrel 54.2 h4831sc 168 berger (muzzle pressure ??)

Just trying to see if I can use a AAC 762-sd on my new 284 safely.

I contacted AAC, and they could not give the green light because they have very little experience with the 284 win.

Thanks for any help or thoughts.

Re: 284 winchester muzzle pressure needed

Keeping them both at 2.800" OAL and using standard inputs the estimated 26" 284 muzzle exit pressures are lower by about 20% over the 16" 308 load that you gave.

Use at your own risk.

I use my 30P-1 on my .284 all the time. I don't know about AAC, though.

Re: 284 winchester muzzle pressure needed

I forgot to mention OAL.. My 308 is 2.80 and the 284 is 3.175, its on a long action.. Those pressures sound like I should be fine..
Thanks again for your time and for the “very”” very” quick responses.

In that case the peak pressure in the case would drop on the 284 vs. what inputs I used and subsequently the muzzle exit pressure would be reduced as well.

If you're willing to trust the QL estimate (and I see no reason not to in this case, it's a reasonable approach) then you really should have no trouble. All the people that I know shooting 284's put them through 308 suppressors without any problems.
