I've never used a Brux barrel but I'm considering one because it's the only thing I can find in stock in .224 with a 1:8 twist. I've always preferred Mike Rock's barrels in the past because they have been consistently faster than others I've had as well as the most accurate. I can't find one in stock though so it's not an option.

I would like to hear some feedback from people who have used both and can compare velocities. The 4 groove should be fast but you never know. If you have used both I would love to hear your thoughts.

This will be for a 223AI build on a weatherby mark V action. 1:8 twist for 75 and 80 AMAX's and finish length of 18-22" and threaded for my AAC Ranger 2.

Unless you need a custom twist/profile
Any of the big names will perform better than you can shoot, use whichever you can acquire the quickest.

I've used both. No problems with either. They are both very good barrels. Some people say that Brux is slow, but velocity has little to do with the manufacturer of the barrel. With cut-rifled barrels of the same length and bore/groove diameter I've never been able to isolate and measure a consistent difference between one manufacturer and the other.

Graham that's the info I'm looking for but I couldn't find much feedback about velocity. It sounds like Brux may not be what I'm looking for.

I know pretty much all good barrels will shoot great but that's not what I'm asking. I need to squeeze every bit of velocity I can out of this build and maintain a portable barrel length.

John Pierce loves Brux and uses them almost exclusively. And most of his builds are for the Benchrest guys.

If you want a so-called 'fast' barrel, try the Schneider 5P. But it will be polygonal.

Brux are awesome, as well as Rocks.

I've had both, get whatever you can get first.

Sinclair is showing 1-8 Bartleins in stock. I ordered one last week and its at the smiths already.
