Re: Should I get this for my new rifle?

why not?? I like those pelican cases a lot but don't really need them, you can get a lot of ammo loaded for the price of one of those though.
your call.

Re: Should I get this for my new rifle?

As long as you're not sacrificing anything like buying less ammo so you can comfortably afford it etc...I say get one. I bought one last year and love it. I have accidentally dropped the case a couple times, and I'm glad my rifle was in the case when it was dropped. I like the mindset that I can literally just throw my competition rifle in the bed of my truck and not really have to worry about damaging anything.

Re: Should I get this for my new rifle?

I have a similar case (Docosil?) I bought like 15-20 years ago for $100 (just no wheels). Nice case but heavy. Great for flying with a rifle/shotgun. However they are only good if you have a truck or a hatchback. Damn thing is so big it won't fit in the back of my 335i. Not even across the back seat. I have gone to soft/discrete cases so I can fit multiple guns in my trunk for going to the range. Just something to consider.

I know it wont fit in my Altima, whatever case I get, well, the Midway Dragbag might, it's soft.

Re: Should I get this for my new rifle?

A hard case with dimensions of 51.5" long x 13.75" tall x 4.5" wide will fit in the trunk of a Nissan Altima. At least, it fits in mine...

Re: Should I get this for my new rifle?

I have that exact case, in tan. love it. its tough as nails and a great quality hard case. that said, i rarely use it. if travelling long ways, the rifle goes in the hard case. 90% of the time its in my drag bag though.

That said, if you are in need of a hardcase, youll find none better. i say go for it.

Re: Should I get this for my new rifle?

what would you be using it for? If you're at a range with paved roads and can use the wheels is one thing, but a 25lb case + rifle + Gear on a dirt road where the wheels might drag more then roll? I'd take a lighter soft case.

But if you need something for protection during transport and such, then I'd say go for it. That case is on my list of things to buy eventually actually, but I'd use a soft drag bag for woods carry and not the official range

Re: Should I get this for my new rifle?

Have several and love them. Lifetime guarantee even without receipt. Sent one in and received a new one without any questions. I used them when shipping hundreds of pounds of tools across country. Have 2 of the 1750 rifle cases and are very heavy as well as 1650 case for spotting scope, Kestrel, weather vane, ammo, targets and data book. Go from house to truck to range and back. Would not take them out hunting !

Re: Should I get this for my new rifle?

Great investment.Oh forgot to mention one thing.Last year when I was boarding my flight while going thru the tunnel to the plane I actually saw the baggage handler throw my rifle case.It made me cringe and now it wouldn't bother me as much.

Re: Should I get this for my new rifle?

If you have a 3-4,000 dollar guy it makes sense to protect it as best you can with one of theses case just like makes sense to have a gun safe at home to keep weapons safe and secure? again we are only limited by money or resources, if you can squeeze your budget it is a great thing to have

Re: Should I get this for my new rifle?

J,
I know how much Dixon charges for his work. You have $4000.00 in your rig. You want to trust that in a soft case in your trunk, some numbnuts ass ends you, broken stock, broken scope,etc....
I carry all my guns to the range in good hard cases.
Take a look at this one, it is made by Boyt, Boyds, not sure, I can find out. My shooting partner has the double one, it is 95% of a Pelican in strength.
