There are a number of modern 338 rifles available in 20" barrels, AI included. I am sure there is a purpose.

Loading will be the same ,just that your velocity numbers will be a bit less 200 fps or so.

My 20" is much more manageable with a can on the end than a 27" would be.

What kind of velocities do you get with the can on?
