Re: larue mount for torch pro? purchased offset

I went through this same dilemma last weekend, so I ordered both. I figured I'd try them both and use the one I liked best. I'll find another use for the one I don't.

I got them today and I have to say that I like the offset one better. It makes it much easier to reach the end cap of the Torch Pro. So it obviously depends on your preference, but if reaching the end cap is a goal, the offset is the best choice.

I took a few pictures with the light mounted so you can compare the placement.

Some very good looking pics. Welcome to the hide and the Torch Pro order. Glad you like the unit.

Coyotesniper, thank you for your interests in the Torch Pro as well. The offset does make it a bit easier to manipulate the back power button. Of course a moot point if you go with a Surefire pressure switch.

Good pics! Think I like the offset better. David, what ring size fits the Torch Pro? Got one ordered...

Thanks! I am not the best netizen in that I am always lurking and rarely contributing.

I ordered my mounts with the 1.040" rings. That is the size you want for the Torch Pro.

Hey Vic

I received my torch pro about a month ago and all I can say is

THIS THING IS AWESOME !!!

works great with my D740 I got from you earlier this year

what a great setup

Does anyone use a flip up cap on the torch pro to protect the lense?

Glad you like the unit. It's been amazing the amount of these units flying off the shelves, but not surprising as we firmly feel this is one the best IR illuminators on the market and the constant positive feedback is reinforcing this.

What is even more interesting to note is for the first time we've been asked from many your exact same question about a lens cover. We've never really heard of folks asking or using a lens covers for a flashlight, so we take this as an extreme compliment.

We understand the want though, when folks first see the true quality of the lens system, it looks VERY special and one would assume it needs to be protected. While scratches and such will really not hurt the beam output, here is some info on the measurements that will assist.

The outside objective lens diameter of the Torch Pro is 1.7”. You can use the Butler Creek Size 6 (with transparent window) or Size 20 lens caps.

Hope this helps.
