Re: 300 Blackout Thompson G2

Only thing that would make that more awesomer, is if it was an integrally suppressed barrel.

Re: 300 Blackout Thompson G2

I have the sam profile MGM barrel in 308 1x8 twist and shoot subs out of it. Amazingly compact package.

Re: 300 Blackout Thompson G2

Very nice man. I am a Contender fan from way back. Which vortex is that?

Re: 300 Blackout Thompson G2

Very very cool. I've been hanging onto my encore for a build similar to this. How's it shoot?

Re: 300 Blackout Thompson G2

We need a group buy on those barrels at 16.1" threaded. I could even go with a 308 chambering.

Re: 300 Blackout Thompson G2

That's pretty bad ass!

Looking at the Obj. It says Diamondback, I can see a "1.75" So its a 1.75-5x32

Re: 300 Blackout Thompson G2

a friend of mine has the same setup, with a folding stock and a thunderbeast 9MM on it, super quiet and accurace for little money, very light and easy to carry all day hunting.
congrats, that is a really sweet blackout.

Re: 300 Blackout Thompson G2

sweet rifle. I have been looking at doing something similar but as a pistol with bipod, 44 mag subsonic 10" barrel.

Re: 300 Blackout Thompson G2

Wow! Thanks everyone!!!

This all began as a normal 30-30 G2. Wanted something lightweight and portable for hunting thick timber/brush where a follow-up shot is rare.

Barrel: Match Grade Machine - 300 Blackout with a 1-8 twist, stainless, full bull, matte finish, thread pitch of 5/8 -24 at 16.25 inches..
Stock: Choate Adjustable Stock, replaced the buttstock replaced with an 7 1/4" ACE Skeleton buttstock
Scope: Vortex 1.75-5x32 Diamondback BDC. Thought about the PST 1-4 but choose the Diamondback as a lighter weight and less expensive alternate.
Suppressor: AAC 7.62 SD

Over all I’m extremely happy with this setup, going to be getting out to the range next weekend to see how it shoots at 100 yards. Very impress with it at 25 yards so far.

Re: 300 Blackout Thompson G2

That is one fine looking rifle. I like the heavy barrel, and the but stock really sets it apart from all others. MM

Re: 300 Blackout Thompson G2

These have been around for the best part of thirty years. We began by using the 45 Winmag as it was a rimless cartridge with almost identical dimensionality to the .45apc, allowing us to run from subsonic to, well, 45 Winmag an awesome cartridge in its own right (40,000cup vs approx 12,000cup). They had their plusses and minuses, perhaps the only real plus was almost no mechanical noise, making subsonic an extremely quiet affair.

Downsides included generally funky reloading, accuracy was extremely load sensitive, cramped optics. Eventually it became pretty clear, one could derive generally the same results in the pistol configuration for the yards that it was capable of shooting. You wouldn't believe the number of barrel and chamber configuration tested.
