Just an FYI. You CAN NOT omit flyers, they are part of the group. Thats like being a pussy golfer and taking a "mulligan".

Re: Flyers.

Also, 3 shot groups don't mean anything. Shoot 10 shot groups, then pick the closest 5 shots and call that your 5 shot group.

Re: Flyers.

I love it when I see people at the range bragging about groups and it always has ATLEAST one flyer that they blame on themselves... But they never have one solid group.

I disagree with the general concensus on 3 shot groups not meaning anything though... Show me 5 in a row, good 3 shot groups and I believe that just as much as 3 in a row 5 shot groups.

exactly - like the dot drill - try to hit 15 dots that are 1/2 moa one time each

WTF - so that is the math the internet BS'ers use to claim the 1/4 moa all day rifles - maybe you should read the 6 group 30 shot thread - then read it a few more times until you realize what actual consistency looks like

Re: Flyers.

I never have flyers so I can't comment on this topic.

+1 on that. Why burn up your reloads when all you got to do is chrony em, jbm em, or in my case iPhone em, then go to work. I shot 3 threw a crony bf and was on at 1k my second shot.

Re: Flyers.

This is the internet. You need to maintain a proper level of skepticism no matter how many shots are in a group that is posted, like this:

Iremainskeptical.jpg

There is really no way to ever know how many groups were actually fired to get one really small one. Usually having more groups are a better indicator, particularly if they're all on the same target. Also, as mentioned above, the dot drill is usually a very good indicator as it's pretty hard to fudge one.

Re: Flyers.

i love the dot drills. it keeps my attention longer also. whenever i start worrying about groups i have a tendency to over think shit. When i shoot dots i put all my effort into that one shot and I hit it. Also, you don't have flyers when you shoot dots. you have misses :)

Re: Flyers.

Hey, when I screw the pooch, I'm not gonna throw the blame at my rifle.

The scores are what count, four ten-round FV250 targets. Anything else is practice.

Re: Flyers.

I blame everything and everybody for the flyers, they are never my fault.
cheers.

Absolutely 100% internet bull shit.........

They always happen because of unaccounted for spin drift and coriolis effect. Drink some Spin-D for gods sake.

Re: Flyers.

I like some of the flyers stuck to my windshield when I leave parking lots. I hate the campaign flyers shoved in my front door everyday at my house.
