Has any one had experience using these brakes? How to they compare to some of the more well known ones like the APA's or Badger FTE ? Also does any one know what the I.D. is on their standard 3port brake before any mods? I know it says it will work for .243 up ton.338LM by I m just wonder what the opening measures at.
Also the one I'm inquiring about is not the clamp style. I would call or email the mfg but the are closed until November.
Thanks for your help

Re: Muscle Brake???

i have one a my .260 and a friens has one on a 18" 308, a 338 edge and a 260 also, very good brakes, the .260 barrely move at all anymore and you can shoot the edge all day.
I'll be buying more.

Re: Muscle Brake???

I have the Benchmark Barrels one that clamps and doesn't need to be timed. I highly recommend it!! They will sell you one opened up to what you need.

I had a three port on a 338 Edge. Highly effective.

needs to be timed and in my opinion, turned down to match the barrel contour ( tapered back)

so it doesn't look like this

I've had one on a 6AI, a 338 Edge, a 6.5-284, a 6.5CM and now one going on a 7 Dakota. Call up Benchmark and order one through them. THey have a whole shelf of them waiting to go out. I have used them on all the rifles above, and I think I'm forgetting one or two rifles and I love that break. It made the 338 Edge able to shoot all day, and made the lesser calibers feel like a 223. I'd highly reccommend using this break.

Re: Muscle Brake???

What size barrels have you guys ran these on? My barrel i have now is a factory .243 rem varmint (.830)and my 6.5 Bartlein on order will be the same contour. Also we're y'all running the standard 3 port or the mini?
I think I jumped the gun. I saw one in the FS section decently priced and claimed it only to realize that I would probably be better suited with the mini because its only .850 on the flats and 1.0" on the sides rather than the standard which is 1.0" on the flats and 1.24" on the side,. but I won't back out of it cause that just ain't right. So should I try and sell the standard and go to the mini or just stick with the one I got and have it turned down a little?

Re: Muscle Brake???

I have one on the trg22. It works great but I need to find someone to taper it to my barrel profile!

It's the clamp on style.

</div></div> what barrel contour is that?

Re: Muscle Brake???

I'm running a Little Bastard from the folks at APA, it does everything they claim. The best part of brakes is being able to watch the follow through of your bullet impact. Having it turned to match the barrel taper gives it a much cleaner look. As apposed to using a clamped on unit.

Re: Muscle Brake???

I have installed a couple of Muscle brakes on 338 LM's and they performed fantastically. One of the 338's was shot by a bunch of people who shoot lighter guns every week and they felt the recoil was less than a 308, that is pretty good as the 300 g Scenars had a muzzle velocity of 2,850 fps.

Re: Muscle Brake???

I had one installed on my 7WSM and like it. I will put one on my ELR rifle when it's built over the winter.

These brakes perform very well. Myself and several others have
this brake on our 338Lp's..

The inside ID on these brakes I believe is .250" before mods.

I only reside 80 miles from Centershot.. so it is easy for me to get
products from them.
