My uncle asked me if I knew why the Indians rode appaloosa's to war. Of course I didn't know the answer... He said it was so they could be pissed off by the time they got there.

Same scenario with my dad. He got on a gelding and it started to go at it but dad rode it out. As soon as that horse stopped long enough for him to dismount, he got off, pull back and punched that horse in the neck. The horse just stood there and shook after that and then all was well... got back on and rode.
You know sound that punches make in the movies, that you rarely if ever hear in a real fight? That's what it was like when he punched that horse. I had never done so before, but I never challenged Dad's authority after that day...
I didn't want to get hit like that horse!
