Suppressors Please help me decide on a .45 can

I am looking hard at Silencerco's Osprey vs the AAC Tirant in .45 caliber.

Most of my handguns are Glocks so assume they will be the host weapon.

Both have similar weights and claimed db reductions and are priced about the same.

I like that the AAC is servicable.

I love Silencerco customer support and their products and what the company itself is trying to do for the industry. It does not matter to me all that much, but I do prefer the design look of the Osprey. However, performance is by far my first consideration.

I have products from both company's already in the stable and both perform better than I had hoped.

I will be using the can on 10mm as well as 40 S&W. Is the AAC rated for 10mm, I know the Osprey is.

Is there another can I need to consider besides these two?

I am open to all suggestions.

Much thanks!

Re: Please help me decide on a .45 can

I have a Tirant that has worked great for me in 45. I shoot a fair amount of lead bullets and even jacketed bullets gunk up the baffles, so I am glad it is user serviceable. If the Osprey could be taken apart, I probably would have gone with it over the Tirant though due to its shape.

I did a quick search online and could not find any reports/reviews of the Tirant being used with 10mm, so your decision may come down to 10mm vs user serviceable.

I will be going with a Osprey when the time comes...

Re: Please help me decide on a .45 can

Ospreys are hard to beet as they can be used on 9mm and work well. They are the most versatile suppressor for pistols.

Re: Please help me decide on a .45 can

The Tirant 45 can also be used on subcalibers and is user serviceable. Really the only thing to decide is round vs eccentric.

Thanks for the replies.

I am still trying to find out if the AAC can handle the 10mm round, if it cannot my decision will be made for me. I cannot find any info on the net as of yet, I might need to send AAC an email or give them a call.

Re: Please help me decide on a .45 can

I went osprey 45. I use it on 9, 40, 45. Even use it on my 9mm colt ar15. It looks like it was made for glock. One of the things I love about it is the sight picture I have on all my glocks as well as on my 1911 commander. That was important to me as I run it on over 6 different weapons with factory sights !!!
Hope this helps.

Osprey.

Both are excellent cans and are very similar in performance but Silencerco is 2nd to no one for support and service.

An example is I snagged an FNP45 pistol and Silencerco made a change to their mount / piston becasue of the FN barrel threading. My piston was the 1st version. I called them and they next day shipped me an upgraded piston for FREE.

AAC on the other hand I waited for over a month for a blackout mount for my M4-2000 can. They require you to use their mount that is no longer included with the can. I ordered the mount and waited a LONG time to get it. Customer service is not their priority but they make nice stuff.

Re: Please help me decide on a .45 can

The Osprey and TiRant are the top two .45 cans hands down. They are about equal in sound. I personally went Osprey and love it; no regrets. The suppressor sits low enough that I can just see my factory sights (1911) at the top of the can. The TiRant blocks a bit more of the sights.

I couldn't care less about taking pistol cans apart for cleaning but I know others disagree with that.

Mark</div></div> I agree, thats just more things to get messed up, lost, dropped, put together wrong then shot off IMO
I'd take and Osprey any day, great can!

Re: Please help me decide on a .45 can

I went osprey for the multiple gun use aspect with different adaptors and it is super quite

Re: Please help me decide on a .45 can

I have the AAC, love it with my HK45. AAC has adapters for other threads.
I would be shocked if it wasn't rated for 10mm. But please keep us posted.

Re: Please help me decide on a .45 can

I use my Osprey 45 on 3 different guns, two of which are Glocks (21 and 23). Suppression is fantastic. I consider my Osprey to be the suppressor version of Sauron's ring: one suppressor to rule them all!

Re: Please help me decide on a .45 can

I celebrated the election outcome by making the 45 Osprey purchase today.

I talked to AAC today, they do not rate the TiRant for 10 mm. That made my decision for me.

The wait begins...again.
