Gunsmithing changing barrel on Fn spr a3g??

i'm relatively newbie to precision shooting. i'm definitely not a gunsmith. that being said, i am wondering if anyone has done their own barrel change on an spr a3g? i have a good friend that has an AIAW .260 and he has the tools and know how to change his barrel. he would be helping me, or i actually would probably be helping him. my understanding is that i will need a m70 action wrench (approx. $60 @ midway), some go no-go gauges, & that it can be done with relative ease? reason i'm asking is that i just purchased an a3g and it came with extra .308 barrel. currently there is a .260 barrel on it. any help/info would be highley appreciated!!

Action wrench, barrel wrench, HS gages.

is it similar to changing an AIAW barrel? barrel wrench same or similar to barrel vise?

A barrel vise is pretty much a barrel vise. You of course will have to have the appropriate bushings/inserts to fit your barrel contour.

Otherwise, it's the same. The barrel screws onto the receiver tight, just like most rifles.

If the 308 barrel was for the rifle originally it should have a mark on the barrel and receiver. Just line them up. Then again the only way it would have this is if the smith that put the 260 barrel on took the time to mark it.

Not so much a torque spec, You can torque it to whatever spec you want but make sure the extractor cut in the chamber end of the barrel lines up with the action and your good to go.

I'll simply add that you won't be able to overtorque it with traditional tools. The rotational difference between 20ftlb and 200ftlb is probably less than 1/4 degree.

You'll have to torque it pretty good just to get the extractor cut lined up. You can look down the action and see when the extractor cut is lined up. At that point, you'll be good to go.
