A few years back, I spent the most educational Sunday ever sitting in the booth of an optics dealer at a now-defunct gun show that was the biggest in this area for decades.
He was going to do an install for me, and I didn't mind waiting, as I thought it might be kind of cool sitting on the other side of the table watching the crowd go by.
Yeah, right. He had a damned .50 cal. Barrett sitting there.
Never have I seen such a succession of complete fucking idiots, many of them looking strongly like prohibited individuals who had no business even being there. It was an absolute petting zoo for fucktards, and "Please Don't Touch" either meant nothing to them or was beyond their reading level.
I spent the day almost feeling paranoid because I wasn't constantly standing up in a better posture to deal with the possibility of an intrusion. People literally leapt towards the booth to grab at the Barrett and there was more than one idiot who tried to sneak or have sneaked a surreptitious photo with it.
Probably the worst were the father/son teams, the fathers having no control over their kids, who were fueled to the top of their short brains with all manner of video game idiocy about things that they had never seen in real life before, much less tried to snatch up off of a table. "Dad, wow, it's really heavy, it isn't like it is in COD!" Well, no shit.
Seven hours of BO, cheap breakfast farts, and honky-tonk halitosis, but nothing in the prone. God help us all if these people were to actually make it to a range, much less bring anything besides their greasy fingers.
" I think we had only made it back to like 450 yards, so it wasn't like we were 2000 yards away with the Barrett where it wasn't obvious....The shit you see when you are out shooting! (We did have that happen on another ocasion I was shooting the Barrett and my buddy was shooting his 7 SAUM at 2K yards and some guys rode up to our targets and started to get their pistol gear out to shoot at our steel at point blank range, the targets were pretty big, it was my elk target and my 3'x3' AR500 plate.
