Hi All.
Hoping to gain some knowledge before I make my purchases. I have three rifles listed below that all need glass. I would appreciate your suggestions and feel free to support your selection. It is overwhelming just to walk in the store and say "I need a scope".

Gun 1 - Remington .223 Tactical
Planned Usage - 500 yds or less. May let my son use to hunt and target shoot.

Gun 2 - Savage 10FP .308 Tactical
Planned Usage - 750 to 1000 yd. Competition.

Gun 3 - Wilson Combat Tactical Recon SR .308
Planned Usage - My "if things get really bad gun".
I would like more of a conventional scope for this as I have eotech on a Sig556. However, I think I do like the illuminated recticle.

Cost is somewhat of a factor yet not the determining one. I am trying to find the best value.

Thanks.

Re: Scoping 3 Guns, Need input.

The vortex pst line might be a great option for decent glass for all three.

You could put a 4-16 on the .223 a 6-24 on the 10fp and the 1-4 on the .308.

Re: Scoping 3 Guns, Need input.

Vortex PST 2.5-10x44 on the M700 223 and Wilson Recon 308, and 6-24x50 as previously mentioned on the Savage.

Staying with the same brand scope will help standardize ergonomics, which may or may not matter to you.

Another good choice IMO would be Weaver GS Tactical 3-10x40s for the 700 and the Recon, and a Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 G2DMR from Liberty Optics for your Savage. That'd be a fair bit less money than PST option, though you wouldn't have an illuminated reticle on your Recon.

Re: Scoping 3 Guns, Need input.

Whoaa wait a minute here, you best option would be to get 1 GOOD SCOPE like a nightforce NXS 5.5-22x56 Mil/mil with HS and zerostop , get a larue 1 piece base and use it on what ever rifle needs it. With the larue 1 piece base you return to zero with no impact shift from removing and putting back on.

This totally and just point and pray with the others for your 200yd shots....

It lets me have a 100 yard zero and go out past 2300 yards, can you elaborate on your comment?

Re: Scoping 3 Guns, Need input.

You can't shoot 2 rifles at the same time, let alone 3 with different purposes, with just a single optic.

Yeah he is saying the other two rifles would basically be paperweights at that point as they wouldn't have an optic on them. Having a QD mounted scope is a good thing, but using one scope for multiple guns can get messy quick.

Re: Scoping 3 Guns, Need input.

This! Yes we'd all love a $2K optic, but when that's your budget and you're attempting to scope three totally different guns, it doesn't mesh. You can still get good glass @ $700/ea (just using those numbers for reference sake).

Re: Scoping 3 Guns, Need input.

Ok, we'll here's a few ideas.

Your 223 hunting etc...

(<$650)
Trjicon Accupoint 2.5-10, 3-9 (tritium illumination, several reticles)
Leupold VXR 2-7, 3-9 (firedot illumination, several reticles, mil turrets)
Bushnell Tactical 2.5-16, 3-12 (FFP and great reticle choices in 3-12, great mag range)
Zeiss Conquest 3-9, 3.5-10, 4.5-14 (mil dot or ballistic, clarity for the $) plain start at $299

All have good glass and represent good values in my book. They vary in price slightly and all have features or qualities that are unique to them in their respective price ranges-

10fp long range...

Sightron SIII 8-32, 10-50 (MOA, mil, target dot reticles) I just ordered one ~$800, ~$1000
Nightforce BR 8-32 (several reticle choices) ~$1150/1,200 I believe

I don't have experience with the Nightforce BR but it is one of the highest regarded optic companies around here- I can't personally recommend it, but if you search on here you'll find plenty of information. I put it up for consideration only so you could be aware of the option.

Other 308-

Low power variables- ($350-$1000)

Leupold VXR 1.25-4 (firedot special purpose, ballistic)
Trijicon TR21/24 1/1.25-4 (tritium)
Burris MTAC/XTR 1-4, 1.5-6 (illuminated ballistic reticle)
Bushnell SMRS Tactical 1-6.5 (FFP/SFP, MOA/Mil reticle with illumination) matching turrets. I have one on order

have to agree with what you said. For his price being a factor but not the deciding factor, and they are all the same platform across makes life a lot easier.

I get confused by my own reticles occasionally so I would go with 3 of the same thing. Probably one of these Weavers, low enough mag for close up and high enough for distance. Even though I would prefer something higher...

Weaver 3-15x50 EDMR

Re: Scoping 3 Guns, Need input.

I would do 3-15 type scopes on guns 1&3 and a 5-25 on Gun 2. The lesser max magnification helps with target transitions and has a wider field of view. With it being mounted on a semi auto it helps with movers and multiple unknown distance targets. The higher power is great for reading mirage and precise long range shots. Just my opinion.

Re: Scoping 3 Guns, Need input.

I have not seen it yet but I have heard through the grape vine that Bushnell HDMR scope is a great scope for the money. I plan on trying one out on my ORB

Re: Scoping 3 Guns, Need input.

If buying 3 at once I'd go with the first reply since price on Vortex is good and they are great scopes for the money. Heck if buying 3 at the same time might even be able to talk the Vendor into making you alittle better deal possibly.
