Hello,

This is my first post on snipers hide so bare with me!

I have a SPS Tactical in .308 and i'm just about ready to purchase all my stuff here.

I have a Millet TRS1 in mil/mi. I was wondering what you guys think is a good ring combo? My budget for the rings and base is around 100-180 max. I was looking at TPS 20 MOA base and the TSR rings. I did some research, and people seem to like EGW base and Burris XTR low rings.

My concern is that the TRS-1 has a big objective bell diameter which is like 59.8, ideally I'd like to get it low as possible to the barrel. Without compromising caps or operation of the bolt.

If you guys can recommend other products I'm all ears!

Thanks!

Re: Need help with rings and base.

I have had hit and miss with TPS ring quality, but the couple of TPS bases I have used had no issues at all. From what I have read quality has improved and the price is hard to beat if your on a budget. EGW makes a good product as does Burris, also check out the Warne Maxima tactical bases, great base for the money.

I read the review on Snipercentral about TPS. They used to have production problems, at least in terms of getting the specs right so everything would fit correctly. The thing that attracts me to the TPS base, is that it has that recoil lug built into the base.

Go on midway USA and get the nightforce 40 moa for $115 and on sale the Leupold QRW med Rings for $60 and with shipping and handling you will stay under budget and will be a very happy camper.

Interesting I'll look into that. I think 40 MOA might be too much to start off with? Most suggest 20 MOA which a good combo of short and being able to long without maxing out on elevation.

Another question if I get a aftermarket bolt handle, how do I ensure it wont get caught up against the scope?
