I for one want to acknowledge this post. It takes a lot of guts to get on the internet, and especially here, and admit failures.

To me, that is a bigger win than you placing. Don't want to get too far out in the weeds on this, but I don't like people who have never failed. Either they are liars or delusional.

Very cool thread. And I expected to see the debates between cadre and deployable billets. It's a valid data-point. Not necessarily enough of one to matter. I also didn't know AMU guys deployed. And I am not sure they do.

I assumed they had that billet between regular postings. And we all know what assumed means.

Cool thread. I'm enjoying it. Immensely. Still waiting to see if any more specifics come out about gear. Not only what the winners ran, but the losers as well. I seem to recall OBRs where the big thing last year. And SEALS/Navy wasn't so hot on their SCARS.

Re: Ft Benning International Sniper Comp

My team ran two OBR's. 18" and 20". Both rifles were outfitted with Bushnell HDMR scopes with H59 reticle.

We ran Vectronix's new NiteSpotMRs Night sight. The sight was amazing as it has a white FOV instead of your standard green NVS setting. Even with temps being around 50 degrees and no Lum, we could make out the steel no problem.

As for kit, we ran Grey Ghost gear plate carriers, Crye pants, 5.11 Rapid Assault shirts in MC and Merrel boots. I also ran a Hill People gear Molle runner rig. I love this thing as it rides high and has plenty of room to store kit.

We ran two HorusKestrels with BT. We used Litz G1 BC's and trued our system accordingly. The Irish team also used HorusKestrels for thier 2nd place finish.

For the stalk we used two Kryptek tops with ViperHoods. We used a small handheld thermal to navigate around the enemy patrols.

Our performance was ok. We had two first place finishes in two of the events.
The rapid fire shoot and the Kim( urban) shoot. When we had good communication and focused back on the fundamentals we kicked ass, but on stages were we got flustered, things went south.

All in all, I'm proud of our finish and for what our team had to go through to get down there it was a victory. My buddy just had back surgery 90 days prior to the event and for him to Charie Mike, was a great sight.

If I could do it all over again, I would practice my positional shooting and shooting movers in alt fire positions. I would also get more trigger time on pistol.
