So, I know that fast twist barrels are better suited for heavier bullets. Do lighter bullets like the 55 gr bullets suffer from the fast twist? Given a choice between 55gr and 62gr ammo for plinking (vs the 77gr SMK for... I dunno yet, I'm new to this) is one better than the other in a 1:7 twist 16" barrel?

Same here.

Each barrel will shoot certain bullet weights/designs better than others, so you will have to test. For example my Krieger 7.8" twist did not like 55GN ZMAX bullets that some of my other 8 twist barrels love. So, I tried 52gn AMAX and is under 1/2". All with the same CFE 223 powder/CCI41 primer combo. Of course these 7/8 twist barrels all seem to love the 77gn.

I've never shoot 55 grain bullets in my 1:7 twist barrels but 52 grain SMK's shoot great groups in the 1:7 twist. May have to try the 55 grain bullets based on these post as i have over 3K of them sitting around.
