I am putting together an AR-15, and will be using the new SWFA 1-6. This is my first AR. Any recommendation on which Bobro mount to use?

I was thinking low and slightly forward, however this is not much more than a guess. I have used the search tool, but did not come up with much.

I have both the slightly forward and extended version. I would personally buy the extended, because it will give you a little more flexibility to get the correct eye relief.

In my experience, the slightly forward may not allow you to get the scope quite far enough forward, depending on shooting style/head placement and eye relief of a particular scope.

And quick disconnect ability could serve you well too. I've had a SS 12x scope on mine for awhile now while mounted in a PEPR Burris mount with QD. I like the 12x for the range, for precision shooting. The SS 1-6 will be for hunting, field use, home defense, local Zombie eradication programs and the sort, haha, God forbid I need that.

I'll use a QD, forward extended mount for the 1-6 too so I can easily switch the two scopes.

If you're a NTCH guy I'd recommend the extended mount. The slightly forward will work fine with moderate head positioning but if you like to really stick your head up there you'll probably be happier with the extended mount.

I agree with this completely. I guess what I was trying to way was that I have found that the extended has worked for me in every situation (various rifles and optics) but the slightly forward has not been as versatile.

I'm the odd man out in this discussion.

But I like the slightly forward. I have this with the 1-4 and love it.

Re: Which Bobro mount for AR15 and SS 1-6?

I went with the slightly foreword, since I'm not a nose to charging handle guy.

I cant speak as to how it's working out with the SS 1-6, because I'm still waiting on it to arrive.

Just something to think about the extended Bobro mount has some clearance issues especially if using a throw lever

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like I will wait until my scope is here, and mock up a mount with wood and rubber bands. I am hoping to use the slightly forward.

This is my first AR, so I have some things to learn.

My slightly forward will be here tomorrow. It will be mounting a USO 1.5 - 6X. I'm not a nose to the charging handle guy, so I think it's going to work fine for me. I'll report back once I have it mounted up.

Re: Which Bobro mount for AR15 and SS 1-6?

I am also looking forward to my SWFA 1-6X for my Rainier Arms RUC 16" . I wanted the Bobro mount for this scope. I am a NTCH shooter and decided to get the Extended Bobro mount for good eye relief after checking with plenty of owners on SWFA Optics Forum. I wanted to learn how to shoot iron sights (Diamond Head)for a little over a year before ordering a scope & mount. Hit 3 golf balls in a row at 25 yards prone the other day with iron sights - made my day !!
