I will be having my last and final custom hunting rifle built. It will be chambered in 6.5x284. My question is which builder? I know that both qualify to build it I'm just wondering if one is more detailed than the other? I'm not here trying to put down on or the other, these two guys are the final two for me. Please help me if you have owned a rifle by either one or have info that might help with my decision. Thanks in advance for the help. Danny

Re: Gradous or Beanland

You will probably get this answer the most. Call both of them and see who has the shortest wait time. If you live in the same state as one of them you might want to support the local guy. Both of these guys are as good as it gets. You can't make a wrong choice.

Re: Gradous or Beanland

Those are probably THE 2 best around. Whoever you can get to build it first!

Re: Gradous or Beanland

I just shipped off a trigger yesterday to Mr. Beanland to get in line for a build. Now I'm just waiting on my Bighorn Sporter and McM HTG to send with the rest of the parts. I think this is my final build for a very long time also, the wife is starting to act funny...

Re: Gradous or Beanland

While I am sure that Mr. Beanland is excellent, my money will go to Robert Gradous. His shop is meticulous and his attention to detail really impressed me when I sent him my R700.

Plus he's local so that's another plus in my book.

Jon has done work for me and for several of my friends. As long as he is building rifles he will get my business.
He is a great guy and he builds incredible rifles.

I've never met or spoken to Mr. Gradous, but his reputation here is 100% spotless, as far as I know.

I don't see how you could possibly go wrong with either.

My vote goes to:

I just got off the phone with Mr. Gradous and he said "It's all about having good vendors ie. good barrels, good actions, good stocks and good scopes. I am very thankful they are producing such high quality components."

Re: Gradous or Beanland

Thanks guys for your input and info in helping me make my decision. With respect to both builders I wont make my decision public. Thanks again guys for taking the time to help me. Danny

Re: Gradous or Beanland

Never had a rifle built by Gradous....I have had 6 or 7 built by Beanland after having a terrible experience with another gunsmith that was once on this site. I can't imagine Gradous is any better than Beanland. Jon's attention to detail is better than any I have seen.

Every rifle I had that was built by Jon shot bug holes. My money goes to him every time.
