I dont see a need for 5.56 to be a caliber I should own. I own 30-06's, will soon have a .308, and these substantially sized bullets provide me with the recoil, size and manliness that I lack in every day life.
Keeping my caliber selections to .45 ACP, 30-06 and .308 means that I can use one shell plate on my reloading press and with these calibers I can handle any paper target that may present itself to allow me to chase the bullseye.
The most oft quoted thing I hear about 5.56 is “Its the most common readily available caliber and should zombies attack you want to be carrying something in an AR15 flavor”. I shrug this off as mere apocalypse paranoia spread by those too enamored of living in moms basement. Besides my soon to be delivered LMT MWS would be more than suitable for anything that wished to do me or my family harm.
Who needs a glorified .22? I already have the worlds best in the Ruger 10/22 I bought when I was 14. Besides everyone in the know is sure that every Hajji in Southwest Asia must be shot by no less than 5 rounds of 5.56 before they go down and our troops are at a major disadvantage because enemy tactics call for standing off outside the range of the glorified .22's and making precision shots with their .30 caliber AK's.
Last night was spent listening to my daughter and wife puke into their own plastic sand pails. You never realize how small a 4 year old girls chest is until you have to support her as she pukes into her pink sand pail. She was a Trooper and would hand me the pail for clean out and announce “Daddy I'm done puking”
So with the wife sick and me home from work my only chore for the day was to get my son to kindergarten. That was done by 8:15 and really I had the day to myself. Down to the barber for a nice “0-3” to ensure that the hats still fit and than I had to return the Christmas light up yard Candy Canes because my son decided he wanted a Christmas Star for the tree outside instead.
I've been waiting for my MWS since early April and it should be here by end of this month. I recalled that I received an email from the local gun store that they were getting a delivery of LMT CQB16's in. I bought my MWS on internet/magazine based research and havent been able to fondle an LMT product so it seemed to me like a good idea to go check out one of the girly versions of my future rifle.
Sure enough I get there, they have the CQB16 in the rack, and for the first time I handle LMT sweetness. I like the grip, I like the sopmod, I like the solid feel, I'm thinking “what a tiny little hole at the end of the barrel. I cant wait to get my MWS”. I left the shop to go get my lighted star.
As I traveled to get my kids Christmas light I couldnt stop thinking about the CQB16. I was struck by how heavy my 03's, Garand, and future MWS are compared to the CQB16. Holding the CQB16 reminded me of the rib cage of my daughter in its light yet strong build. I thought what if these jerk offs are right and I need to move fast with a gun. How am I going to get anywhere with the 5-25x56 mounted, bipod and PRS equipped MWS? I have yet to see anyone on the “Walking Dead” make a kill with an M1903. My God I better get back to the shop before they sell the last one! Crap Obamas gonna ban them before I can buy it!
So here I am, what a jerk!
Is getting that target crown turned down and threaded to accept a Surefire Brake an option? That unprotected crown seems like a hazard to me and to keep it compliant I'll need a pinned/welded brake.
Thinking of a Trijicon for this any thoughts on that choice?
