Hey all,

Been working on a load for my 243Win and got around to running some testing tonight, I have uploaded the picture and would like opinions on where to go from here.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

All rounds were fired at 100 yards off a front and rear rest. Specs for the round were as follows, 95 Berger VLD, Once fired Lapua case, 44.0 RL-22, and CCI 200. The powder charge is about 1.3 off of book max and I intend to work up. I had one called flyer on the lower right target that is marked and I simply shot a 4th to verify. The two marked Jeffs 105 was a friends attempt to stabilize a 105 in a 1 in 10 twist (which obviously failed).

Starting in the lower left and going clockwise, the target is testing seating depth starting at .035 off (max mag length) and going out in .010 increments. So the lower right is a total of .065 off the lands.

I have never had a rifle turn in such consistent groups across seating depth like this, it really seems like the bullet dont give a shit where its seated. How do I go about picking one of these? Retest? 200 yard? Book indicates around 2950 for velocity, but I have not checked with a graph yet. I would imagine with a 26 inch tube I should be close to that.

Chrono or shoot at 300 if posslble. Then hopefully the best load will show its stuff.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: 95 VLD's, data question.

Id definitely go to 300yds and shoot 5 shot groups, my 6mmRem shot these bullets in the mid 3s @100yds, never had the chance to try them at 300 since I ran out of them. Your 10 twist should do fine stabilizing these bullets. Have you tried RE17 yet, id try it if I were you, might give a touch more velocity and better accuracy, too.

And go with the load thats touching the lands, though you might have to single feed them, I did with my 6mmREM as i do with the 105Hybrids I shoot now.
