Shooting Mat with bipod loading straps

I'm looking to get a shooting mat, specifically one with straps across the front that I can use to load into with my bipod. I recall seeing a design like that somewhere, but I can't seem to find it again.

Also, has anyone had any experience with that type of mat? How do the straps hold up when loaded?

The Triad mat has that ability, I think. If you load so hard that you break the straps, you're doing it wrong.

Bipod needs to be loaded, but not so hard that straps are needed.

I can't get any grip to load into when I'm on the concrete at the range. It's not about loading hard, I just don't have traction to load into.

As an alternative, I've seen guys stitch/place dowel rods into the edges of their shooting mats to prop the bi-pod feet against.

I sewed a strip of nylon belt to mine with a stich-all. It's the manliest way to sew.

Hmmm... Interesting concept but I don't believe you need something like that.

The Triad mat can be made to hold bipod feet, but its an afterthought. You can rearrange the straps in several ways and the hook into them.

If a mat has a strip, ledge, bar, etc. that you use to push on, how we'll does it work if the target is not perpendicular to the front edge of the mat? Do you have to move the mat so you can load feet equally as you pan from target to target.

I alway see the the mat as being snivel gear for ME, not a support mechanism.

I use the midway mat with the straps at the range and it works great.

With that said, it is useless in the field for hunting. I recently went mule deer and coyote hunting in Montana and there is no way I could have set up a shooting mat. I'm sure it's similar in competition.

Learn to shoot from different positions, with and without the bipod, it will make you abetter shot in the field

A little advice....it's not legal to do that in competitions. I 'bout got thrown out of a match a couple of years ago for doing it.

Men don't own sewing machines. Men jab holes in stuff with an awl and pull string through it!

Or use a Class 7 machine to sew a thumb to two sheets of plywood.

I've found that for one or two shots, loading straps, edge, etc. are unnecessary. Where these loop crutches shine for me is in 10 shot groups; loading loops help me be quite a bit more consistent. I use a tab gear mat with tac ties tailor-sewn onto the front part of the mat at bipod width...hope this helps, cheers...

Midway mat as mentioned above. Good, wide, durable mat at good price with edge for light loading. Does improve consistency.
