bullet drop question

I was on the 300 yrd range a couple of weeks ago with -3 to -4 C , original zeroed @ 100 yds about 3 to 5 C. Shooting a 178gr hornady matched 308 bullet chambered in my Remington 700 aac. I sent the first round, dead centre, second round 6 - 7 inches low. Checked my ballistics and I had adjusted correctly.
So my question is the barrel or is it the scope?

Thanks,
John

Re: bullet drop question

I don't think I was doing anything different thats why I eliminated myself out of the equation. Plus that much? I don't shoot that bad, I know that much.

I continued to send a few more, as I clicked on more elevation they continued to walk up the target. It's just that everything was fine right up till that day. I've been shooting regularly then I go out and this happens.
I figured maybe the temperature shift had a part to play in this.

Re: bullet drop question

I would see if it repeats itself before trying to pinpoint one reason for the shift. One occurance isn't something I would stress over right away. If the issue persists, start eliminating variables one at a time until you figure it out.
