I've been eyeing a McRee folding stock, they are having a holiday sale and it just seems too good to be true at 650 dollars. Here is the advertisement I ran across. If anyone can give some input on one it would be greatly appreciated.

McRee Chassies are GTG! Love mine! My Savage never fed ammo this good out of the factory hidden box mag, now its smooth as glass.

Mine should Be here Monday! Got a Raw G5 TMAG folder, and 2 mags for 701 shipped! Will be posting a review and thoughts when it arrives.

Re: McRee's Precision G5 TMAG folding stock??

I'm keeping mine cuz i think there are great. Going to get another folder here in a week for my SA stuff. Can't go wrong in my mind.

Re: McRee's Precision G5 TMAG folding stock??

Thanks for the input, I'm going to punch on a G5 Folder as well. I'm building off of a Remington 700 chassis. They offer a switch barrel "savage style" barrel combo. McRee's is selling a 22'' krieger with the kit. I think I'm going to build off of this because at these prices I could have 2 rigs for the price of a normal build!

Re: McRee's Precision G5 TMAG folding stock??

whats your barrel and action? when she's done please share what groupings you achieved against your old stock. I have an HS precision I'm replacing and I hope to see a tighter MOA measurement after the swap. I'm interested to see if you experience any change as well.

Re: McRee's Precision G5 TMAG folding stock??

Get the McRee. I have 2, one folder, one non-folder. The non-folder holds my Scout Supply Co .260 for competition and the folder holds a 700P LTR with 20" barrel. Scott McRee is a really good dude and the stocks are awesome. Make it happen.

Re: McRee's Precision G5 TMAG folding stock??

Mine arrived Tuesday, and while I haven't dropped a barreled action in it yet, I'm extremely happy. For the money, I had to check it out...I'm glad I did!

Re: McRee's Precision G5 TMAG folding stock??

DSsniper21, I'd be curious to know if/how much your group sizes change after a swap. What size groups are you getting now, is your rig bedded, & what are you using for ammo? Also, it'd be interesting to have a friend also shoot your rig for groups, before & after the switch. Kinda' ad a bit more data to the test/comparison.

I'm also curious to hear feedback on the durability of the hinge, & strength of lockup on the Mcrees. I'd surely like a folder, but ain't sure I want a 4-5lb stock on my rig right at the moment.
Though you guys surely are right about both the price, & how nice the folks @ Mcrees are to talk to!

Re: McRee's Precision G5 TMAG folding stock??

The hinge to me is bullet proof and the lock up is very very tight and not going to work lose over time. The folder is great when it's time to clean, just flip to side and you don't have to mess with the cheek piece.

Re: McRee's Precision G5 TMAG folding stock??

Would definitely love to hear more reviews on the McRee's. I have a McMillan A-4, but really love the look of the McRee. Plus I like shooting with a pistol grip. Only thing is, I dont want to sell my A-4 to fund for a McRee. Maybe the wife will set aside some money come tax season...

5 shots Fed 168GMM at 330yrds, personal best for my rifle. The Rifle shot well with the B&C Medalist, but very slightly better with the McRee. The rifle is more comfortable to shoot, and way easier to clean when folded.

Re: McRee's Precision G5 TMAG folding stock??

I just received my G5TMAG folder in FDE. I'm swapping my remington 700 SA from a McMillan. My group sizes in my Mcmillan, which is bedded, are coming in at .85 MOA at 100yds with Black hills 175gr. match and .6 MOA with 175gr. handloads. I'm definitely going to have a friend shoot for groups as well, never thought of that. Makes perfect sense! I'm going to buy Scott's switch barrel kit which comes with a kreiger cbi barrel to see if that will improve from my rock river 5R barrel. The barrel swap will come after the initial testing from chassis to chassis. I'll keep you posted!

Dssniper21, how did you chassis do. I am looking to try this chassis.

I kinda doubt dssniper21 has logged in since 2012. I think those were his only posts. The mcree is pretty awesome for the price. I used one the last few months and have no complaints. I personally like mcm/manners fiberglass stocks lighter weight, but the mcree is much cheaper, drop in and ready to go and fully adjustable. Tough to find a folder that takes aics mags and has adjustable cheek piece, adjustable butt pad and flush cups for the price they're asking.

I couldn't agree more. Started out with the standard folder w/ a 26" 700p. Rock solid and completely adjustable, just a bit heavy. I recently switched stocks out and went with the AR folder with an magpul moe and 3/4 inch cheek piece and put a 20" aac-sd barreled action in it. Saved alot of weight and got lucky with the 700 aac-sd I bought. The combo absolutely hammers

Does anyone know if a left bolt folder fold to the right so not to conflict with bolt?

When ordering the folding stock (or just the hinge) you specify whether it is for right or left handed. That would lead me to believe that they swing in opposite directions.

Seeing as how this thread was started almost 2 years ago, it should be noted that the Mcree stocks ARE in fact on sale as of right now. Good guy, good product.
