I just finished a sniper course where I was able to use the a nightforce scope with the horus H58 reticle. I really enjoyed this scope until I found out the price of it. My question is has anyone ever used the new Bushnell HDMR scope? I have heard nothing but good things about this scope from some high level shooters, but in my eyes it's still a Bushnell.. Has any one ever had any experience with this scope?

Re: Bushnell HDMR

Bushnell has come a long way, and has really raised the bar in that price point for optics. Look around here and you will find a metric shit ton of threads about the HDMR. I recently bought one and to say I'm impressed would be an understatement. Give one a try, you will probably like it.

Re: Bushnell HDMR

Oh yea, I forgot that part. I bought mine from Scott, he will definatley take good care of you.

Re: Bushnell HDMR

I am in the middle of testing a number of different scopes and this is one of them (albeit mine has the G2DMR reticle but the glass should be the same). Anyway, so far I have been extremely impressed with the optical quality of the Bushnell Tactical Elite 3.5-21x50. Like you, I was thinking... "it's a Bushnell"

Re: Bushnell HDMR

Fwiw, I sold off all my NF scopes (8) and replaced them with HDMRs with the G2 reticles. No complaints.

Re: Bushnell HDMR

It's an amazing scope, mine has the G2DMR reticle absolutely no complaints. I own/owned S&B, Premier, NF, Vortex and for the price this takes the cake.

Re: Bushnell HDMR

I do not own one but I had the chance to borrow one (G2DMR reticle) and run it in a 2 day tactical match, it was replacing a Premier 3-15 for the weekend. My first impression, very compact for a 21X optic and it seemed very well built. Glass was very good, although the image got very dark in the upper magnification range, around 18-21x the eybox got very small and dark. Reticle is amazing, not too thick for long range precision work and you could still pick it up in the lower power range. The turrets tracked very well, shot it all the way to 1200 yds and they were spot on, clicks are very tactile and the locking feature is cool. It only has 5 mils per rev but you just need to keep track, comimg off of scopes with 14 mils per rev and not needing to worry about it, it took some thought. One small thing I noticed was the ocular focus was very easy to turn, after pulling the rifle out of the drag bag I had noticed the ocular focus had worked its way all the way out or in due to movement in the bag, not a big issue but I am being objective for product evaluation.

These are my first impressions, honestly replacing a optic that was upwards of 3K new with a $1200 optic and having no time behind it and thrown in to a high paced match, I was impressed and I wont hesitate buying one now.

Re: Bushnell HDMR

Do any of you that have a lot of time behind the G2 reticle think the christmas tree could be a little wider?

Im quite hard on my equipment, be it comps, practice, etc. Not a hiccup out of any of them.

Re: Bushnell HDMR

I buy one from liberty optics few weeks ago(great great deal..)..the G2 is a great reticle ,the scope has an enormous elevation range,it tracks perfectly;it is mount on a custom i use for steel shooting and varmint,i often carry it in a truck without any case and i have no issue with it.
i i ordered a schmidt bender 3-20 which cost 2.5 time the HDMR and each time i use this scope i think i would have wait for the HDMR gen 2 instead of ordering a schmidt bender..

Re: Bushnell HDMR

+1 on Liberty Optics.... Scott will take care of you!

I run the HDMR on my .338 and for the money may be the one of the best things going.

I had an issue with the turrets which was promptly corrected (I sent the scope back to Bushnell on Tuesday and had it back on Friday with the issue resolved) the scope is 100% in function and tracking. Thanks to Tom and Todd at Bushnell!

I too thought the the same thing about spending that kind of money on a Bushnell, have not one ounce of regret of the purchase.

Yes for sure, the G2 doesn't have enough tree for even a 10mph wind with a .308

Re: Bushnell HDMR

Looks like the edge of the tree matches up pretty well with a 10mph cross with the 162amax from a 7RM or other low drift rounds...so yeah it seems it could be a little wider.

Re: Bushnell HDMR

Ive had 5 so far and had to send one back to bushnell because it wouldnt focus properly. For the price their great scopes and make great fillers till i can afford the glass i want

Multiple special operations units have taken this scope to its limits and it has performed superbly. I took a 1-8 Bushnell Elite through the ringer downrange and beat the hell out of it... it was good to go. I too had issues with it being a "Bushnell" but Im here to tell you, they are different than the old ones. I have excellent vision and and tried very hard to scrutinize the Bushnell comparing it to my S&B and Im here to tell you, the optical clarity is THE SAME and it tracks very well. I like the H-59 and TRMR2 and even the G2 better than the H-58 reticle. I like a fine line or no clutter at the intersection of the reticle... the dots in the H-59 and TRMR2 and fine line with the G2 are excellent. I stopped using my H-58 bc of how thick the line is at the intersection.
