Hey Hide I am dead set on a FFP optic for my new AICS build that I will be taking delivery on this week. I need a new optic. I know of several that exist like the Vortex, the one NXS 15power NightForce, etc etc but if I could narrow my search down with some Hide direction it would be appreciated.

- At least 15 power capable preferably over 20
- Able to handle 300wm and larger calibers
- MOA only reticle and click value NO MIL
- Quality manufacturer Tactical pedigree

I am interested in anything from 800/1000 up to 3000 bucks or so. I am all over the place right now and need to narrow it down.

Thanks!
C

Re: FFP What is Available and Your Opinions!

If you want MOA and are willing to pay like you stated. Try looking at USO they will build what you want how you want it.

Re: FFP What is Available and Your Opinions!

There really aren't a ton of FFP MOA options so your job should be relatively easy.

Don't forget these:

Vortex Razor, PST, and their new LR HS series which has a very nice FFP MOA reticle.

Nightforce F1 with the NPRF1

I would also give the new Valdada 6-24x56mm with their new illuminated MP-8 Xtreme MOA-X1 FFP reticle. Liberty Optics, CS Tactical and SWFA all have them in stock I believe, and always check to see if you can get a Hide discount

Premier has a 5-25 in MOA

Re: FFP What is Available and Your Opinions!

I'm sure others know more than me but IOR (the manufacturer of Valdada) has been around a long time. I believe the scopes are made in Romania and they use Schott glass and some of the best coating technology available (now that doesn't mean they're as good as Hensoldt or S&B, but they are really good). Even though they are made overseas they are serviced for any warranty or repair issues in Littleton, CO (I know because I've been to see Val the owner). Val is a really good guy and has really taken care of a lot of people, including replacing their scopes entirely if need be. A few years back Valdada scopes took a hit in build quality, especially for internals and also for QC; however, everything I've heard about them for the past few years has been that their new scopes have resolved those earlier issues and people have been extremely happy. I'm still waiting for my 3.5-18x50 to come in but I looked through one at Val's shop last month and was highly impressed, the quality was tops in my book!

Re: FFP What is Available and Your Opinions!

I can vouch for IOR Valdada as well. I had an elevation knob that was broken when I loaned the scope to a friend. Val took care of it without asking any questions. Definitely top notch in service.

Re: FFP What is Available and Your Opinions!

I think if i had a build or 1 coming that needed 1 of these type scopes and 3 grand swimming in my pocket, i would save a grand of it and get what i think for 2 grand is 1 of your better scopes, the new Bushnell XRS 4-30x50 from George over at GAP.

Re: FFP What is Available and Your Opinions!

Dan, I think that new Bushnell Elite Tactical 4.5-30 XRS is going to be one fine scope; however, it is only offered in Mil and the OP is looking for MOA only scopes...

Re: FFP What is Available and Your Opinions!

I think its time for a little change. Try it and if you don't like it you will not have a problem selling it. I think the only down side to the IOR is if you would want to sell it i think you are going to lose a chunk of change verses the others.

Re: FFP What is Available and Your Opinions!

I have a NF F1 with the NPRF1 reticle and absolutely love the scope. Initially I was skeptical the 15x would limit my appreciation for it but it hasn't at all. Also have a Viper PST FFP with the MOA reticle. The PST is a nice scope but nowhere near the scope the F1 is. As others have recommended, if you want more magnification, the Razor is probably a good way to go.
