I met Danny Dietz sr. tonight.

I was having dinner at the texas roadhouse tonight. The restaurant has a display of items about Danny Dietz. He was a navy SEAL and a friend of mine. Danny was killed in afghanistan around 7 years ago.
I am sitting at the bar and someone mentioned the nice display there. The guy next to me asks if I had seen the display. I said, Dannys stuff. Yeah, he was a friend of mine. The guy got a proud smile and said Danny is my son. We had a good time eating dinner and talking about Danny. Sr is damn proud of his son. It was a pleasure meating him and BS'ing with him.
Also found out there is a movie being made about Danny and his team right now. Mark whalberg and some other big name guys are in it. Also the family is writing their own book about Danny.

I bought one of the Memorial Roping event t-shirts last year. It's a wonder how many people ask who the shirt is for and don't know the story of Operation Red Wings. I educate those that ask and I'm hoping that the movie does their service justice. Lone Survivor should be mandatory reading for high school kids.

Pretty neat. Dietz was one of Lutrell's crew of Lone Survivor fame right?
