Because they just pulled them all off the wall. They've also pulled any "hi-cap" magazines as well. Can't imagine that they'll keep it up for very long, that's a lot of money to throw away just to make a statement, not to mention alienating your strongest customer base. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

Fuck me hope they go bankrupt for being retarded

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

If this is true, and has been made into some kinda corporate policy across every Dick's location....we must organize a serious call to action among all sportsman, not just shooters to make sure that Dick's doesn't survive another year of business.

If true, Dick's must have balls the size of Saddam's, that or they want to burn the entire company to the ground in a nano second.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

Has anyone else checked there local Dicks? Trident is correct we need to know.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

I just heard it on the news. No more of my business and anyone else who cut the balls out from between their legs.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

Better to keep mom and pop stores as the main source of firearms. Better for the local economy as well as a healthy supply of firearm dealers. I think Dick's move is a good thing for the gun industry.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

I just got on their website and sent them an email with how I feel about what they have done. Didnt take but about 2 or 3 min. Would suggest everyone on here drop them a little note.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

i agree with spending money with our local gun store. i always prefer to keep my $ local.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

I have had reservations about Dick's for some time. I made a large purchase some time back and just on General Principle, I showed my DoD pink card to the cashier and asked if there was any discount policy for Veterans. The answer was no, and I was OK with that; but the manner and attitude of the cashier was downright insulting an derogatory. That left my with a decidedly cruddy taste...

After today, Dick's is off my list of retailers. Strike three... (gouging, deliberately snotty toward a clearly identified Veteran, "Zumbo-ing" to media pandering...)

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

I love all these retarded knee jerk reactions

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

I believe their name says it all. They just need to add in front of it. We Are A Bunch Of That pretty much describes them. Will not do business with them. Sad part I believe there is more to come.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

that sucks, just to be PC

The Dick's Sporting Goods chain said Tuesday that it is suspending sales of some rifles nationwide because of the the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings.

Dick's also said it's removing all guns from display at its store closest to Newtown, Conn., where the shootings place.

...

The decision to sell Freedom Group, in which Cerberus has had an investment in since 2006, was made to avoid being "drawn into the national debate" about gun control, the firm said. Freedom controls Bushmaster Firearms International, which makes the rifle used in the Newtown, Conn., shootings.

On Monday, the California State Teachers Retirement System said it was reviewing its investment in Cerberus due to the tragedy in Newtown.

Pathetic.

Dick's Sporting Goods is not 2nd Amendment friendly, hasn't been since the kids took over the company.

They got their start in my hometown and were THE place for hunting and fishing gear, my grandfather rented them their first store.

It's how Dick Stack made his name, selling guns, but since they went public the kids have wiped their asses with the 2nd Amendment.

Ask yourself WHY they'll sell pistol ammo, but NO pistols.

I've been taking my business elsewhere since, which is bittersweet given what the company USED to be all about.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

they probably gonna sit on them till there is a ban then jack the prices way up on their pre-ban stockpile.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

I've already emailed all my friends all across the country...don't shop there for all the reasons above!

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

You know they only pulled them to avoid being a lighting rod for people's anger, much like the NRA hid their Facebook page to avoid being a dumping ground for anti-gun nuts.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

Big 5 reported that they will not be selling "long guns" for a while or thats what I read, not sure if they are pulling them off the racks or just refusing to sell.

Its starting already

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

Attitude is everything. I would rather buy a firearm from someone that I can carry on a conversation with, vs. someone that I am ready to choke out.

I have not done business with them for a while now, and it looks like it will be indefintely now. Enough said.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

I just dropped them a line as well. No more of my money is going to them.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

I have also emailed them that since they made this decision, I
have made a decision also that I will no longer shop there. I also mentioned in my email that for every email they receive like mine there are thousands that feel the same, but do not send emails, they will just not shop there.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

I don't understand how they (dicks) thinks this is the best course of action.

Now that's funny!! Well really it's not, but probably true!!

They had the best AR deal around on black friday, Troy built gun for $799, should have bought one...

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

Well, that's too bad, but, I can happily take my money somewhere else. It is still America - at least for a few more years.
Shame on Dick's Sporting goods.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

This is all because of people being too PC ,anyone looking at the photo's of Lanza can clearly see he is crazy .

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

I just emailed them as well...

It has come to my attention that your company as a whole has pulled all of your AR-15's and magazines off the shelves in the wake of the tradgedy in Newtown, Ct. As a shooting sports enthusiast and consumer at your store, I am appauled at this kneejerk reaction. The method of this attrocity is not the issue here but the lack of effective diagnosis and treatment of mental illness in this country. Nothing could illustrate my point better than the fact that this same incident was played out in China except the weapon of choice was knives. It has yet to be seen what will happen as to any form of new gun legislation and it is irresposible of your company to deny law abiding customers such as myself to purchase legal firearms and accessories. I will no longer be doing business with your company and will be doing my very best to make sure none of my friends do either. You should also be aware that the news of your decision has spread far throughout the shooting community and you can expect a severe loss to your consumer base.
We will see what reply if any I get.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

This is gayer than a bag of Dicks! Have these people forgot gun owners buy clothes, shoes, and golf clubs too?

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

Email sent...
Mirnyx- that is exactly what I put in my email. Let alone all of us with kids who play sports. Just think the money they could lose with just my self with two kids possibly needing sports equipment for the next 14yrs or so. Times that by as many people as we can get the word out to, they could take a huge hit.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

Already called them and told them that THEY are what's wrong with society since they do not seem to want to hold people accountable for their actions and instead want to simply make an irrational stand based on generalizations and knee jerk opinion.

I asked them if they planned on taking every kind of sharp edged tool/knife/filet knife, etc off the shelves too since the guy in China went on a stabbing spree. Of coarse not.

Simpletons.

The only reason I'd ever go into a Dick's again is to take a shit.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

I hate to say this but does not look like Dick's are the only ones that have done it .. Most stores in the Northern VA area shelves are empty of semi-auto weapons and Cheaper Than Dirt, Bud's Guns, and most every other on-line firearms distributor I have searched on-line seem to have been sold out of all semi-auto non .22 caliber rifles.

Look around - don't think it's just Dick's.

I haven't seen any other press releases/announcements from any other retailer out there that would confirm this; if there are, please feel to let us know who said what.

The other retailers may simply have nothing in stock due to the aftermath of a panic buy.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

We just got a Dicks one county over, then Dunhams the other county over. Dunham's puts Dick's to shame, hopefully Dunhams doens't get ignorant also....

I think it may be panic buying, too. Bro and I went to the local shop today and they were saying all the online sites were down, that you couldn't buy anything for a time. Sounded like Black Friday - Cyber Monday type site crashes. Some online retailers know their servers couldn't handle that kind of traffic and shut down rather than let the site crash and risk losing data. Just my .02.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

Dick's, a store that has been appropriately named. Screw, 'em.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

Sent em an e-mail and posted the usatoday story on my facebook for all friends to see. I also asked all of them to not go to Dick's and either call or send them an e-mail expressing their concerns.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

Re: Don't go to Dick's Sporting Goods for any AR-15s.

This is pretty low of Dicks. Was planning on doing a little Christmas shopping there tomorrow. Definitely not gonna happen after all this. On a side note, has anyone heard anything about Academy Sports doing the same thing? It seems they've pulled all AR's from their website and I know they sell them in stores. I hope this isnt' a trend among retailers.

Can you post the name of that business? I think they need to be supported for their choices. That is great of them.
