Anyone have any experience here, they're $1100 on a good day but will supposedly run forever in any condition. Thinking of getting one just to have something that will always be reliable. I sold my G21 but still have my G19, just didn't like the 21 like the 19.

Re: HK 45 USP with threaded barrel

I bought a HK USP40 in 1997 and have over 20,000 rounds through it and never experienced any sort of malfunction. Its also accurate.

Re: HK 45 USP with threaded barrel

The USP45 (whether in the Tactical configuration or just the base USP) is an excellent pistol, utterly reliable and as you said, will damn near run forever without too much in the way of maintenance. I have a couple different USP45 pistols, including a Match and others and have never missed a beat with any of them shooting everything from match loads to +P defensive/carry loads. The longest I've gone without cleaning was roughly 2,700 rounds over the course of a weekend.

Best advice I can give you is to try getting your hands on one before you buy. The problem that I see with many shooters (and likewise for the G21) is that they are sizeable pistols and not everyone can properly get a good grip on the pistol which has a large frame. If you can't get a good hold on it and it doesn't fit you, you won't shoot it well and it'll just be a wasted expense. And $1100 isn't a GREAT price on a Tactical, but its probably "average" for a new one. Check with CDNN for some of the best prices I've seen on new ones. Personally, I'd look to the used market for one in excellent to like-new condition and save yourself $100-200.

Re: HK 45 USP with threaded barrel

Ive owned a few. On the tacticals I really liked the match grade trigger (standard on tactical models) but I cant utilize the magazine release very well so I ended up selling it. Around here they sell for just under 1000 new with 1 mag. Wish they had a standard rail as well. Accuracy and reliability they are top notch. Only seen them jam when used with crappy or weak mags.

Re: HK 45 USP with threaded barrel

If the USP45 is too large of a frame for you try the HK45 or 45ct. It is small but cuts down the mag capacity to 8 or 10 rounds.
I just got the 45ct a few days ago and haven't shot it yet so I can't give you any personal experience. Know HK I am not worried though.
