Have my deposit on a GAP 10 in .308. I have a nightforce nxs 5-22x56 mil/mil that I'm running on a savage 110 in .260 that I built. I had planned to get a Larue qd mount and use the same scope on both rifles. However, since the GAP is going to be a purely tactical rifle, I had considered getting the Bushnell with the Horus 59 reticle for holdovers and elevation on the fly. I've got a buddy who is interested in my Nightforce. I would have a couple hundred bucks leftover to put toward a terrapin.

Another option I would have if I want that reticle is to sell my Nightforce and my Schmidt & Bender pmII with a p4 fine I have on my 98b, then buy the S&B with the Horus. I would just have one scope for everything rifle I own. Anybody have any personal experience in using one piece of glass for multiple rifles?

What would you guys advise? Would you make any changes at all?

Re: Ditch my Nightforce for a Bushnell?

Get behind the Horus before doing that. Personally, I don't care for them all so much. You may find that to be true. If you have an S&B now that you like, put it on the gun you shoot most.

Re: Ditch my Nightforce for a Bushnell?

I haven't had my nightforce long enough to make a judgement, but how essential do you think FFP is? That probably has as much to do with me moving away from NF as anything.

After actually using it...I feel it's essential.
I'm holding off on making a purchase of a FFP optic till I see what comes out after SHOT though. The Bushnell line will probably get the best bang for the buck...from what I've seen.
Even the 3.5-21 G2DMR that I looked though was awesome. Adding a HORUS OR even the new 4-30 zoom range WITH zero stop.
That's a trifecta

Re: Ditch my Nightforce for a Bushnell?

I have no experience with the bushnell, but I have owned a 3.5-15 moa/moa nxs. If the nxs has high speed turrets I'd stick with that. I went from a 10xHD swfa to a 5-20HD and the 10 mil turrets were my favorite upgrade, followed by the extra magnification.

Although the nxs is not FFP, you can still range and hold on 11x with the proper mathematical considerations.

That being said I'm sure the hdmr is also a kickass scope. Just wish they had 10 mil knobs and illumination.

Re: Ditch my Nightforce for a Bushnell?

I have both and both have their good points and bad points.

For Nightforce, all of mine are 5.5-22x50 models. I have the NP-R1, NP-R2, and MLR reticles. All have matching turrets, so the MOA reticles have MOA turrets and the MLR reticles have Mil Turrets. I think this is a must anymore with any scope.

For Bushnell 3.5-21, I have the G2DMR reticle.

For Clarity the advantage goes to Nightforce. You don't notice clarity much out to 500 yards, but the Nightforce gives me a lot clearer picture at further distances. I've tested out to 2200 yards.

For function, they are fairly equal. Both have nice big knobs on the turrets. I haven't made up my mind yet on the locking turrets on the Bushnell. Sometimes I find them to be a pain, and other times I like them. I've never had an issue of the turrets moving on the Nightforce when I'm packing the rifle around. I do like the "High Speed" turrets on the Nightforce better than the "slow speed" for lack of better term on the Bushnell.

The Nightforce has a lit reticle, the Bushnell does not.

The Bushnell has FFP, the Nightforce is SFP. I'm starting to really like the FFP option.

I really like the G2DMR reticle. I've used the reticle with great success at a couple of competitions.

I don't think you will go wrong with either scope. I think it just comes down to what features you think are more important to the type of shooting you are going to do.

Sounds good on paper but a PITA in real life.

One can keep a gaggle of rifles zeroed up and ready to go with the likes of Bushnell 10X mil dot and Super Snipers while still dropping righteous buuuucks on one piece of glass.

Re: Ditch my Nightforce for a Bushnell?

Sell the sb and the nf and get an hdmr for each of your three rifles.

I would agree with this. If you can live without illumination which honestly probably 90% of the population can then get a few HDMR's.
