I have some 748 that I've not used in years and I trying to find load data for using it to shoot from a 16" barrel with a Wylde chamber. I have very accurate load for this rifle but I want to try the 748.

I am shooting 556 and use Nato spec. like those listed in the Accurate Powder online manual.

Sierra 5th says
22.7 Start
23.4 Max

I must be blind today I have that manual.

I have little faith in Sierra load data as being realistic. It shows AA2520 with max of 24.2gr. I recall. My best load is 25.1gr. of AA2520, with CCI 450 primer, LC nato headstamped brass. This load is unbelievably accurate. I've shot it to 800 yard and on a day with little wind and no mirage groups measure form 9" to 12" with the occasional barely sub moa groups. All groups are 5 shot.

24 grs of 748 should do the trick.

Don't expect screaming velocities, and don't try to heat it up to get the velocity up. 748 is too fast for that bullet to get max vel, but it will most certainly produce usable consistent loads albiet 100 fps behind what the bullet/chambering are capable of with VGT/RL15/H4895/VVN140.

I've never tried 748 but my favorite ball powder for heavy bullets is 2520 works great in .223 and .308 and I think its ten times better than varget especially pertaining to lot-to-lot consistency
