Looking at picking up a benchmark 5r fluted barrel for next years hunting rifle. Skip it and go Krueger or give it a run? Any thoughts on them?

    Re: Benchmark barrels

Have one being fitted to my Palma rifle. Will let you know next summer how it shoots. It's my first one so I cannot help past that. Their delivery was VERY quick

    Re: Benchmark barrels

I can tell you first hand that the guys at Benchmark make amazing barrels, there setup for chambering is like nothing I have ever seen, ultra precision. Being that I live 5 miles from them it has given me the ability to meet the guys and see a lot of their work, great bunch of guys and you will be very happy ar the results.

    Re: Benchmark barrels

    Poke,

    Here is my take..........
I shoot against alot of guys with Benchmark barrels tubed rifles. I noticed at the last couple matches I was at............everybody who was beating me........was using a rifle with a Benchmark barrel. Now i know and am a firm believer in, "it is 75% indian, 25% arrow", but (and i mean but) there must be alot of good indians that trust Benchmark barrels.

So in conclusion, after the last match (8 out of the top 10 had Benchmark barrels), Benchmark is putting one of their tubes on my rifle. Communication has been top notch, and everything how I want it, love it.

    Re: Benchmark barrels

I have honestly had at least 30 rifles barreled by them and needless to say they would all shoot half minute or better which is quite the accomplishment with me pulling the trigger.

    Re: Benchmark barrels

Shot this today with my .308, Benchmark barrel, 600 yards, little breezy, 3" post it note

    Re: Benchmark barrels

I have also had 7 rifles barreled by benchmark. Every single 1 of them has shot phenomenal. They also are a great group of guys.

    Re: Benchmark barrels

I don't have a Benchmark barrel but have worked on a few for a friends DTA SRS and they have all shot excellent!

    Re: Benchmark barrels

My last Benchmark barrel, doing load development.
Shooting at 200 yds. with bipod and rear bag. I have shot many 1/3 and 1/4 moa 5 shot groups at 200 with this barrel

    Re: Benchmark barrels

Picked up a #4 fluted from 3GSS so well see how she does in the form of 300wm on a 70 classic action

    Re: Benchmark barrels

I am about to have my second rifle barreled with a benchmark. I think they are the best kept secret in barrels. Lead times are shorter than most manufacturers.

I agree with this...great folks, fantastic barrels. We have 8 of them around here...all of them shoot great..My go to barrels..

    Re: Benchmark barrels

Great barrels, and good guys who support the sport. Benchmark is a good choice.

    Re: Benchmark barrels

I have 2 and buddy has 2. 6mm, 300wm, 284, all are shooters. Will continue to use them.

Got it all finished (sorta). Specs

    Winchester Classic Magnum action
Benchmark #4 contour fluted 5R barrel
    Boyds Laminate stock
bedded with Devcon (damn winchesters are tricky)

    Leup VX1 or VX2 (don't remember) Going to use a MK4 4-14 on her

I know this doesn't quite meet the group shot criteria. but heres a couple shots of the groups I shot.
Most are 3 shot groups but one is 5 (200yards), shot off bipod and rear bag. Dunno what the wind is doing but was at least 15mph from the 2 o'clock. Did a 1 shot clean for the first 10 but pretty sure that was useless....

And here we go with 190 Berger HVLD over RL22 seated mag length. 5 shots 200 yards these were shots 21-25

    Changes:

Manners or McM stock in the HTG fashion
Might go with a DBM but unsure
She's broke in so going to send it off to get the barrel treated and both barrel/action turned the same color.

I shot next to a co-worker buddy of mine a short while ago, I had a few custom rifles of mine and he brought his hunting rifle; a 7mm mag that Benchmark built for him. His first ten shots (shooting and cleaning) to break in the barrel grouped as good if not better than both of the rifles I had brought to shoot. And he was just shooting factory ammo he'd picked up at Kesselring's on the way up to the range. He let me shoot the next couple groups after cleaning and damned if it didn't shoot just as well as my heavier tactical rifles. I was really impressed needless to say I think I'll be having them install the next barrel I need. Plus its nice to be able to drive an hour and visit the shop rather than having to ship a rifle.

took a "chance" on a used benchmark barrel, in 22BR.
it is on a savage Model 11.

    100 yards

Here's just a quick and dirty summary of our barrels:
Pull button rifled, US steel (416R) to our specs stress relieved 2 times at the factory then 2 times here. Hand lapped before buttoning and after contouring/fluting, we have a consistent true taper bore checked via diatest pins to the .0001
Hope this is clearer than mud, any question feel free to ask

The guys at BenchMark are top notch and great to deal with!

I have 2 hunting rifles (338 Win Mag & 35 Whelen) with Benchmark barrels. I hesitated at first due to lack of experience with them, but I have been very happy. Both of my rifles are very accurate and have performed extremely well. I would not hesitate to use them again.

27" benchmark 1:7.75 6x47L. 800yards - 3 shots at the square to verify elevation, 7 shots at 8" swinger...wind blew a couple just off the edge.

I have (had actually) one of the 1st BM pieces ever made given to me by them when they first stood up. I chambered my 300m 3P gun in 6mmBR with it. It always shot exceptionally well. I sold it last year to a local germ and he's posted several groups in the 0's and low 1's with it.

Gunmakers are enjoying a great deal of offerings these days in terms of quality sticks to hang on actions. Your making a great choice with any of them.

    Good luck.

    Benchmark Barrels

Can you expand on True Taper Bore?

Benchmark makes excellent high quality barrels! I plan on picking up another for my DTA and one for my Rem700 LA build this summer.

If I'm buying a barrel... it will be a Benchmark. If someone out there wants me to test drive something else I'll think about it.... and get back to you on that.
