Well, I became quite determined to fix a very loud vibration in the clothes dryer tonight. The vibration came out of nowhere, and was difficult to pinpoint. I did a cursory check to make sure all the screws were tight and that there were no obvious causes for the vibration, and found nothing. I then took the dryer apart to check the bearings for the drum, and found no problems. Finally, I took the blower apart to clean some lint out of it, and what did I find??? A shiny penny, and a SHARK TOOTH. Where the heck did a shark tooth come from that it could find a way into my dryer?? I put everything back together, and the dryer now runs like new. Somehow, I think my two year old son is responsible for my multi-hour battle with the dryer tonight, but I have no solid proof.

You took your dryer apart! It's amazing you didn't get sucked into the black hole where all the socks disappear to.

So theres one of those at your house too? I wonder if they all touch at some interdimensional level and all the socks end up in the same parallel universe.

Re: Battle with the clothes dryer

The black hole that connects all dryers, pulls in socks,
breaks them down to their base components, then ejects those
particulates, randomly, back through that same interdimensional
portal. Which explains why the lint in the trap doesn't always match
the colors of the laundry being dried. Makes me wonder though,
who was tumble drying a shark, and why was it wearing socks?

Now I've heard of bull sharks in fresh water rivers but never in water pipes. Must have been a small tooth. LOL

WARNING: Watch for small sharks in your washing machines. Never reach into washing machines when water is present. Sharks now everywhere even your washing machines. Lord help us when they figure out how it get into the toilets.

Re: Battle with the clothes dryer

My mother called me last week and hers was making the same noise, but more of a grinding sound coming from the back. I took off the back panle, removed the lint shoot to find a 4" pencil and sticks that were stuck in her fan. Good thing I did it instead of a repairman to charge $200+ for a 3min job

My son put all the keys in the "key slot" to help Dad. Being a little confused on what he did, I thanked him and asked where the key slot was. He prouldly took me to the floor heating vent.

I so laugh when I look back at this!

Re: Battle with the clothes dryer

I came home from work years ago only to find dryer parts all over the basement. My wife was pissed at the cost of a service call, so she tore it apart, looked up a trouble shooting guide on the computer. She fixed it for around $20, and had it running that evening, I got a keeper.
