Guys,
I have a P22. I like shooting that little pistol. I have now decided to move up to a target pistol. Does anybody have experience with Volquartsen custom MKIII? Is it worth the money or should I just buy a stock MKIII and upgrade from there.

Thanks

Re: Ruger MK III

Frankly I'd look for a used Mk2 target and upgrade from there. However Volquartsen does really nice work and puts out a solid product. So I suppose it depends how much you like to tinker and personalize your stuff.

Re: Ruger MK III

Ive got a Stainless Govt. Target Model. The only addidition is a extended slide stop. I am thinking about changing out with an aftermarket take down assembly to make it easier to assemble/disassemble for cleaning. I also agree that is just depends on how much you want to modify one and how much you want to spend.

Re: Ruger MK III

Personally I'd pickout the Mark III you like and start there. You can get a hammer bushing that eliminates the magazine safety for $11 and a LCI filler/Delete for $22. Once you do that the gun is functionally the same as a Mark II. I've bought 3 Mark III 22/45's in the last year and done this to all three.

Re: Ruger MK III

Thank you for the inputs gentlemens. I think i'm going to pick up an MKIII. The Volquartsen V-10x just look so sick, but damn the price tag gave me second thoughts. Does anybody know where I can find a good gunsmith to do the trigger work?

No need for a gunsmith. Get a Volquartsen stainless steel target trigger and sear. The trigger has pre-travel and over-travel adjustment screws that will take the slack out, and the sear will drop the pull weight.

Re: Ruger MK III

I have a 22/45 with the mk2 volquartsen trigger. I can't think of any specific aspect in which I find myself wanting for more. I haven't shot the volquartsen build, but it would have to be something surprisingly astonishing for me to justify the price tag.

Re: Ruger MK III

As long as you can disasseble and assemble the trigger group you can install a custom trigger. I like the 22/45 myself. Had one a while back. Very accurate. Did a bunch of upgrades and then like an idiot got rid of it. Now I have picked up the 22/45 lite and guess I will start all over again.

Re: Ruger MK III

I just decided on & bought the Ruger 22/45 LITE after trying my class III dealers' personal. Love this pistol. Super accurate & reliable. Had my gun guy add a small rail to the flat spot at the nose for a TRL-3 lite for nite predator plinking. Also added the bushing from TandemKross to remove the mag disconnect. Works like a charm, trigger is crisper too. Paired with my SPECTRE sup. it's a 5 star combo!!

Here is a MKIII TB with a SWR Spectre. Got the VZ's for Father's Day. Upgraded internals, great shooter. One of my favorites.

Re: Ruger MK III

Has anyone seen any difference in accuracy between the reg 22/45 and the lite? Am looking to buy a 22/45, shot a mk ii growing up and loved it. Am really wanting a setup like Chard's so can shoot rabbits and birds off of my porch without spooking their friends!
